You need 8k cables for 4k/120 which is possible with xsx and ps5 and a compatible TV. A normal 4k cable maxes out at 4k/60.

Thanks for the heads up. Just put in multiple orders, as I'm moving and setting up a new home theater. 8 cables should cover me nicely.

so annoying that at some point I have to replace my old monoprice hdmi cables. I think even the old ones are ok for 4k, though, but newer ones just needed for certain recent features and 8k?

If I'm correct, there is still almost no 8k content out yet so unless you are using a PS5 or trying to "upcomvert" from 4K (which seems to be not very noticeable for most people in tvs under 55 in) I am missing the point in why everyone should replace their tvs and ir tv tables. At the moment, you can buy an "8k TV base unit to tell everyone it is 8k and not see much difference or you can use that money to buy an excellent 4k and really get your money's worth. I would suggest everyone look into things like eArc,actual viewing resolution of the TV you are wanting to buy compared with the content you are streaming/viewing and then see that AT THE MOMENT switching to hdmi 8.1 is hardly going to change anything except your wallet...

All I know is that sometimes i'm watching a reality show on Hulu or a series on HBO and my Apple TV 4K says the cable i'm using isn't high-speed enough. I am going through a HDMI switch tho, maybe that has something to do with it?

Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but I believe I read that the 10 foot version of these HDMI cables aren't actually capable of 4k/120Hz? Can anybody confirm? I bought several of those earlier this year, but never have really gotten a chance to test it out yet thoroughly yet.

I watched the conclusion of that video (last ~4 minutes) hoping for a summary of what to buy and didn't get that answer.

What's a cost effective HDMI cable for someone who needs a reliable 6'?
