yes Dont buy directly from WD, if you have to return, it will take a least 1 month to get your money back, they got my DOA drive on Feb 23, and I still have not seen my refund

Can buy only 3, maximum. You can get the 4TB model for 69.99/each. And buy as many as you want.

Was just about to post this! Has been sitting in my Amazon cart for a few weeks waiting for a price drop. Consolidating/purging and getting rid of some old 1TB drives.

Should probably work, you'll end up with aroud 14 TB usable space, from your current 4 TB, if you are using SHR setup, according to Synology calculator

I suppose you can't buy twice to cheat.

There's a tool on synology's website that'll let you see what you're available size will be with different size drives.

Use the Synology RAID Calculator here to see what you gain based on your RAID choice: https://www.synology.com/en-us/su...calculator
If you think you'll need the space in the near/mid future and will want to upgrade to all 6TB drives, then getting 2x 6TB now makes sense. If you don't think you'll need 18TB eventually (2x 6TB now + 2x 6TB later) and feel 12TB now is more than enough, then I'd get 2x 4TB. Otherwise, get 2x 6TB to get 14TB total now, then upgrade the 2x 4TB later. I have 4x 4TBs in my DS920+, which I don't think I'll ever run out before the drives start to crap out.

How well would these work in an external enclosure used for video editing?

I need a Nas installed in our home office. I've been looking around at Synology and QNAP but the prices are ridiculously high. Is there another option that is more price friendly?
