It's a shame they disabled the local API (after people already invested). No more TP-Link for me.
So many companies doing the same crap. Wyze piss me off because they support rtsp for their cameras, but what they don't tell you is as soon as the camera can't talk to their server and upload your raw footage to them they tell it to stop the rtsp stream so you can't have your footage locally. If they can't spy on you then you don't get anything! I hate that shit.

Why do you say this? Do you live in the UK? The local API has never been disabled or altered for US devices. I have ~30 Kasa devices running purely local with Home Assistant using the local API and they work flawlessly.
If you're referring to the Alert on the Home Assistant Kasa Integration page, drill down a bit deeper and you'll see it only applies to the UK variant of the devices.
I may be overly optimistic about all the doom and gloom about Kasa going away, but I think it's mostly just over-hyped FUD as far as the US market is concerned. Count me still "in" on sticking with Kasa going forward.
Can you say more about this? I have a hodgepodge of Kasa products and wasn't aware of this change.

I'm in the US, and yeah, I was talking about the alert on the HA integration page. Good to know I was wrong!
