I bought two 5 quart jugs of platinum high mileage 5W-30 and had it shipped to the closest Amazon locker and used the $10 promo code "10OFFPICKUP". After the rebate, I will have paid $5 for 10 quarts of premium oil. Monster deal!

I just remember an independent study a couple of guys did using a Camaro and through donations. They went 11k miles on Amsoil before the oil got so heavy that it was affecting fuel mileage.

Oxidation of the oil is the biggest factor to changing it's viscosity. On an already not sludged engine, normal OCI's are not going to be changed in a major way due to combustion by-product.

I think they had either 40 or 60k miles on the motor by the time they went to Amsoil. They were testing it quite frequently with Blackstone labs. Prior to Amsoil they did Mobil1. Mobil 1 didn't last as long. They said Amsoil still tested fine. It wasn't dropping anything out but due to the decrease fuel mileage and higher weight they stopped testing it. I don't know if it was oxidation causing it but it seemed like it was byproducts in the oil.

On an engine that's not a GDI engine, and one like the LS-series of engines, they are not known for letting contaminants blow-by into the oil so it would be a very strange situation if that ONE particular car/engine was having issues.

i choose a locker pickup but delayed shipping to May something but if I choose just prime shipping it is a week or two only. Anyone else?

Wow you must have gotten lucky. I submitted Amazon receipt (Amazon calls it the "Invoice") showing SHipped status and Shell wasn't satisfied, requested Delivery confirmation. Sent that and they will probably ignore to avoid paying out.

These rebates are run by a 3rd party contractor whose budget is eaten into by every rebate they actually pay out. So they are motivated to use every effort to legitimately or illegitimately reject submissions.

Their T&Cs actually say just shipment confirmation is enough. Now they know noone is going to take them to court for $25 so consumers like me are SOL

they did the same thing to me, it took 2 months to even hear anything and they told me i didnt have proof it was delivered even though i send them screen shots of the order which clearly said when it was delivered i sent the info again but im sure they will blow me off Frown

good news if they reject you, i sent an email about it and they accepted both rebates i had with the same proof i sent the first time so its worth a shot to email them

Damn after I submit the pickup email to that email address I get this email 38 times each time with a DIFFERENT CASE #:
