Went 40v, I'd say go 40v or higher going forward. Night and day difference.

You can get third party on Amazon or eBay, but...

If you really want to save $ you can also buy a roll of spool and wind them yourself w/ your empty spools (which is what I do). Literally pennies per spool. Just be sure to get the right size (it's .65), and make sure it's hex line and not just regular.

Here's what I use. I've had this for two years and probably haven't used 10% of it.

Purchased yesterday and I already own this unit that came in a bundle pkg from Walmart yrs. ago. It had trimmer, blower, and shrub trimmer for $100 on clearance in late fall and came with 3 batteries.
I got this trimmer again as the battery itself is about $40. Same for the fast charger $40, which did not come in my original only regular charger.
So for me this purchase is an absolute steal and all batteries are interchangeable.

Tempting, but I see it uses the 0.065 line and my Zoysia grass is too tough for this. Min. of 0.080 is what I need. Thx for all the info, tho.

This will be my first trimmer, i went with the 170.2, saved a few bucks and learned the pros and cons before paying real money for the next one

Some early commenters stated the cheaper one didn't include a battery or charger, but it appears the difference between these items is a 2Ah vs a 4Ah battery. Both should include a charger too
