This is a good price for the 3070 BUT today is officially the start of the 25% discounts on desktop GPUs across the board due to Biden's removal of the GPU export tax. So you could say the honeymoon for laptop makers is over since it will be harder to justify as Desktop replacements. So expect offers like this to be the norm in the coming days.

Great deal. They are trying to get rid off the laptops with older CPUs. Same laptop with the new i7 12700H is $1499.99. It sure is better and faster but it's not worth the extra $300. I bought the Gigabyte A5 X1 with 5900hx and 140W 3070 about a month ago for $1249. This deal is even better as this laptop uses a newer design and has higher battery capacity. I don't know how much performance difference there is between 140w and 130w 3070 but can't be a lot.

What is the performance difference between dektop and mobile versions of 3070 ?
I remember it was pretty severe for my 960.

Here's a benchmark showdown between all the 3070 variants. Keep in mind this laptop should have the 130W (good) version. This is important. It seems to be between the 3060ti and 3060 desktop.

I have a slightly earlier version of the Gigabyte Aorus (3070 with 10th gen i7) and have been impressed by the performance and reliability.

As mentioned, the webcam is a little weird but it does have the manual switch to prevent weirdos from spying on you, which is nice. I'm pretty sick of weirdo spies online.

What else to say? Gaming performance will be excellent, but get a cooling pad.

I've traveled without the cooling pad, but if you're posting up in one spot it will keep the thermals down- and you can control the fan noise.

There is a quiet mode for working at a coffeeshop and you don't want to scare the nice people with your Harley Davidson gaming fans.

The heavy fans are recommended for heavy gaming though. It's totally fine with a nice headset, I don't even notice it.

But it would be silly to have a torrent of wind blowing for web development or less intensive tasks.

They say the11th gen CPU version (which is this deal) does not have it.

Yeah I just don't understand why that's the norm. For some reason it's synonymous with most gaming laptops. It's like buying a lot of one-ply toilet paper. It will do everything you need it to but you'll wish you went with the two-ply. I do appreciate those other offerings that include great screens though.
