Not true, there are many XSX native games that you can play off of external drives. There are even ones that claim to be requiring an internal drive, but will still play off of the external drive. What I have found is that to get the true list, you have to download everything to your external drive and just try to launch it, if it won't launch then you just move it. I found that about 75% of the games that I have will play off external drives, regardless of whether it's XSX native or claims to only run off of internal drives.

Also having the high speed SSD really helps with transfer speeds when moving games back and forth.

Advertised as a game drive, but still cant play native XSX games directly off the drive, so you might as well get a regular non-SSD 5TB drive for $80 less

I believe they have to be either NVME or certified for the console to allow them to play which No one tells you. I found out the hard way when I purchased a SSD online that had good reviews and found out myself.

The price is good, but you cannot play PS5 games or XSX games (games only make for ps5 or xsx and without backward compatibility) from it.

I think the read speed is up to 900MB/s but neither XSX nor PS5 can really utilize it. The performance is not improved compared to a regular 550MB/s SSD.

If you use it as an external storage for older games, you can either buy a 2TB SSD for ~$150 so you can have faster load time for PS4/X1X games or just buy a 5TB HDD for ~$100

I have the 1 TB version of this and use it with my series s. As mentioned above there are some series s/x titles that will run from external SSD. There are lists online you can reference or you can look at the file info and get a hint if it will run off external versus just the official nvme expansion. Overall it's been a good drive and nice and fast. Makes transferring things around fast too.

Are you absolutely certain your drive isn't an HDD? You might be confusing the two drives.

This drive is an SSD and completely different type of drive.
