Yes, finally something I actually pay for
i hope everyone here knows of the 2 loopholes on this...

1 is United travel bank
2 is Jet blue flights between a certain amount. I believe $84-132. ANd then you can cancel and get that money put into your jet blue travel bank.

Ignorant...

For many these benefits don't add up, and they shouldn't hold this card. For many they do...

$200 Uber/Uber eats
$200 airline incidental(multiple loopholes to get full value on this, even if you travel just a few times a year)
$240 this credit. It's not the greatest but many can get full value.
$200 hotel credit(this is probably the most useless one for a few good reasons so will leave this out of final tabulation)
$179 clear credit(for those of us that have airports that have clear this is solid. I'm in nyc and it saves me literally an hour min at any given tsa line)
$100 saks 5th (they have things that sell for $50 bucks that you can easily cash in on. I don't buy clothes every other week, i literally just got a set of 12 kielbasas from there for $50 bucks, will do again in summer for bbq)
$300 equinox credit. Not for everyone, and I don't use it, but many will utilize it.

That's just the cash bits.

You get status at hotels, for many road warriors that's worth a lot.
Walmart+ for free. That's ~12 bucks a month, or $145 a year if you use that service
Centurion lounge access. Worth 100s of bucks for those that travel a lot.

Probably missing a few. Short of it is, if you travel even fairly casually, this is a card that you get money back on. If you are a full on road warrior, this card is a must have in the pocket.

FWIW although we only have the Amex Gold Delta card, we got the same Disney+/Hulu/ESPN offer, and took it up several weeks ago, around mid-March. But unlike similar charge reimbursement offers, where it only took a few days for Amex to credit the charge, we weren't credited until a few days ago. So I'm assuming that the credit is issued for this offer at the beginning of the following month. Reading the fine print it seems like you wouldn't have gotten it till September, the month after this offer ends, but apparently you don't have to wait this long. We actually get Disney+ for free for a year through Verizon, but with this we also get Hulu & ESPN. Separate accounts.

Link to kielbasas? Worth it?

Half the stuff on my christmas tree is from cashing in my Saks credit. Ornaments, tree topper, etc.

My other go-tos are housewares like random Georg Jenson serving items.
I got this set set of double-walled beer glasses a while back and absolutely love them. Keep your beer cold much longer. https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/p...NO%20COLOR

Use a 10% off coupon and some cashback and they can end up basically free (although paying $9 for them isn't a bad deal either).

That said, I'm thinking I might be done with my platinum card. With the fee hike and the fact that I moved somewhere without usable Uber/Uber Eats...it gets harder to justify. Unfortunately, I have to figure out how to spend my giant pile of MR points before I leave.

I have been thinking about signing up for the AMEX Platinum since we have a couple bigger expenses coming up so hitting the minimum spend for the bonus shouldn't be an issue. The bonus 150k points is pretty great... but we don't travel TOO much and have a bunch of SW points we can use for flights. Other than travel any loopholes to cashing out AMEX points for other stuff or even gift cards?

The annual fee is alarming but we could use the Disney+/Hulu credit and Uber Eats for sure. Maybe the $200 airline incidental and hotel credits for a "special" anniversary trip or something. We also have Clear at the local airport so maybe worth looking into. My wife and I have both wanted to get PreCheck so maybe the $100 credit would be helpful. In any case I see the fee as pretty much a wash for the first year at least.

Same here. I was going to cancel because the $240 and everything else is worthless to me.

Already got one in November lol

I pretty much break even right now as I use everything with the exception of Equinox, but I had to use some of the credits with things I don't really need (like audible). Now I can switch it to Disney+ bundle that I'll start paying soon when my D23 offer expires. With this credit, Uber and Airline (things that I actually use anyways), I'm satisfied with the credits and everything else make it worth the "small" fee after those credits.
