RUN FAST AND FAR FROM THIS DEVICE

13.3" diagonal, FHD (1920 x 1080), multitouch-enabled, IPS, edge-to-edge glass, micro-edge, BrightView, Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™, 1000 nits, 72% NTSC, HP Sure View integrated privacy screen

You lose most brightness and visibility at ANY angle off-center. The privacy screen is hardware-based and cannot be disabled even though there is button that supposedly turns it off (which has almost no effect).

Only valid use cases are if you need a privacy filter or using this to drive an external display.

So many nits!

Something new to complain about… 🙄

Too little nits? Right to jail.
Too many nits? Believe it or not, jail right away.

I'm using HP envy since few years. I recommend stay away from HP silver keyboard. It's waste and worst. Can't use in different angles. Especially in night times. Don't know why HP don't change.

2nd fan damn noise. If you keep performance mode it's don't stop. Continuous noise

If you really want to buy it's ok. But try to have an external keyboard and mouse setup to overcome the 1st problem I said above

1000 nits? Might be a good idea to also to look into the Slickdeals posting on those $20 pair of Ben Sherman shades from EyeDictive.

This seems like a much better deal than that Costco one last week that was 599.99. Might need to return it and get this one. https://slickdeals.net/f/15661195-costco-members-hp-envy-13-3-touch-laptop-i5-1135g7-16gb-ddr4-512gb-ssd-600-10-s-h

What do you all think?
Was thinking the same thing. Just got my Costco Envy yesterday and already having buyer's remorse before even turning it on.

This deal seemed like a winner until I read some of the feedback on the SureView. I am not using this as a work laptop so it's not going to do me much good if my wife and I can't look at the screen together comfortably while watching a movie, etc.

As an FYI, April 13 Costco is having an Envy 13.3" with the i7 16/512GB for $950. I am unsure if the upgraded specs are worth the $350 (~60%) increase in price since I'm not doing much gaming or video encoding on this... Thoughts on that alternative?

Deal isn't dead yet. Looks like basic website maintenance. Maybe a redesign or something.

Together comfortably on a 13.3? That's a thing?

Are they for-real with 1000 nits? Seems awfully high.
MacBook pros have 500 nits display which can have 1000 bits of sustained brightness for HDR content. It's not unheard of

Not complaining at all, I prefer a brighter screen but think 1k sounds high when most displays in the good category around 500-600 nits.
It might be 1K from under the privacy filter but it doesn't actually appear as bright as 1000nit. I've gone through and helped setup a lot of HP business laptops with the integrated privacy screen from Gen2 and now Gen3 1000 nit privacy screen. At max brightness, the standard 400nit screen looks brighter in person. I think it does beat out the 250 nit screen but I would consider both a low end viewing experience at that point. As another poster said, avoid this unless you actually need privacy screen most of the time.

Probably the best thin and light laptop deal I've seen on SD this week.

Don't buy from hp directly. Spent several tech support online and phone and they wanted to charge restocking fee when return.

Agreed, I saw Costco has a different model envy available. For tge price increase, I don't think it is worth it IMO.

Yeah, good point. Should have said "for the 10 minutes my wife and I are trying to make a decision on which flight to take when going on vacation"

Also should have said "when my wife and I are sitting next to one another watching a movie on an airplane. "

What is the issue with silver keyboard? At night can't you just turn on the backlight? And during the day shouldn't it not be much of an issue?
