Didn't like the s22. Thought the s10 display was better. Infact even the s10 display was OLED and it has a better PPI ratio vs s22. Returned to Google fi and ported back to visible.

Will potentially look at the ultra but not on google fi. Signal was also bad (but noting that YMMV per zip code).

Return process was slow. They are all in the Philippines, very friendly but omg everything is manual and requires supervisor assistance. Very slow and multiple calls. They got it done in the end.

From what I have read here, you can activate the SIM/phone and then remove the SIM, but the SIM cannot be used in another phone for 4 months. You will still have to pay the bill for 4 months even though you are not using it.

This has been mentioned several times in this thread and/or the other thread for the Pixel 5a.

After doing a lot of research on reddit and other places, here is what I found. Hope it will help somehow.
- Putting Fi sim into another phone is definitely a big NO.
- After activated, take out the Fi sim and put it in a draw seems to work for many people but be aware there were reports of not so successful stories.
So I activated Fi's plan ($20) then turned off data so I won't get any extra charge.
After done that, I activate my tmobile services on eSIM and make it a primary SIM. Now I can use the phone without worry Fi sim is not active. Keep in mind that you can't active Fi on eSIM for Galaxy S22 now. In the future yes.
The only thing I'm worry now is what if I lost my phone and Google see my Fi sim is not active. Will my $500 be gone?

Yes but keep in mind you can't active Fi on eSIM for Galaxy S22. I tried and it couldn't be done for now. They said in future yes but not now. So physical SIM for Fi and eSIM for other carriers. In my case, eSIM for t-mobile.

This is completely true but would you risk losing $500. I wouldn't so I will always keep the FI active in my phone and use eSIM for other carriers.

Thanks for posting very useful information. I always compare phones on gsmarena and that tells me the entire story in a few minutes (on features per say). I posted here earlier that Visible is much better (again YMMV depending on zip code) as flat $25 (party pay). Also google fi customer service is pain and Visible as well but mostly you never contact them (unless something goes wrong with service).

We're not voiding any of the fine print if we disable data correct? We still get the $500 off? I don't want to get charged the $10/gb, so I'm trying to keep no Wi-Fi data to 0 for the four months. Trying to keep it at $20 per month for the general use.

All you need is the $20 plan. No data needed. Personal experience.

Random question, if you have a physical sim of another carrier too.

Turn on airplane mode, connect to wifi, and see if you can place a call with the tmobile sim. Wifi calling on esim.doesnr work for me.when i have a physical sim in the phone. Looking for a data point. Tyvm

I didn't work for me also. I can place wifi call with the physical sim (Fi) but when trying with eSIM (t-mobile) the phone asked me to switch off airplan mode.

That's unusual. I returned 2 phones this year and it didn't require any intervention for the actual refunds. I processed it on the website, returned them, and got my refund.

Worst case take the google FI SIM out when you need to use Tmobile SIM. The key is not to put the Google Fi SIM into another phone...... :-)

You can use the SIM card manager to turn on and off the physical SIM or the eSIM or both....

I am a bit confused as why do you need to call with the Tmobile Sim instead of the Google Fi sim? They are both unlimited for call and text right?

If you use the sim card manager to turn off the physical sim, it requires a full phone restart for wifi calling to work in a no service area on the esim. Doesnt work immediately. Which is okay i guess if im traveling into a no service area but we all really just want it as a seamless fallback option

ive spent like 10 hours trying every trick in the book but now i know for sure its a samsung software problem. here's to hoping a random monthly patch will fix it

My setup is visible on the physical sim for unlimited data and verizon towers and mint on esim, which is my actual phone number and the only one i care about getting calls on

i did do the fi deal a couple months ago for the s22, but not using the service since the data is pricy.

i dont have any weird problems on my Pixel 4a 5g with the dual sim setup, but yeah other than the esim wifi calling problem and a couple other minor things, i like it a lot more
