Extremely wrong gamer-centric advice. Not everybody buys these things to live out violent fantasies. For content creators, this card will drive "4K needs" more than adequately, especially with its 12GB of VRAM. Buying a 3080 will make NO DIFFERENCE for content creators.
A 3060 will never be able to utilize 12gigs of ram. This was a marketing scam by Nvidia
Just last month rtx 3080 was 1400$. Now it's 1000. Same with what's happening across the board, except the RTX 3050 which makes no sense at 330, why pay 330 plus shipping so 350$ when you can get rtx 3060 for just a bit more? I should have waited I made the jump the 3050 when it first launched and I had a friend get a notification on his evga elite program

Yeah… until you load up unreal engine, blender, video editing, VFX etc. Oh those programs will use all the vram you have and more. It will laugh at 12GB and wonder why you didn't bring an rtx 3090 with 24gb.
Try working with 4k video in davinci resolve while adding color correction and adding some visual effects, you'd be surprised to find out 12GB is barely enough.
By the way. It's out of stock right now. But look on Amazon, Best Buy and… cough cough…. Newegg… cough cough… there's some good deals to be had for the RTX 3060 out there. From MSI and zotac. All in stock too.
what about using DR resolve ? I think it will when you do fusion?
Tiers above this are marginal gains for 3D computer modeling unique to gaming, and irrelevant to actual content creation (besides the tiny niche of, surprise surprise, creating complex video games which almost nobody visiting SD knows how to do).

I was specifically talking about a 3060 not physically being able to use 12gb due to bandwidth bottlenecks. I wasn't implying 12 gigs was overkill
Google GPU prices and read any article within the past couple of weeks. ASUS has already announced steep price cuts and others are following suit. Chip shortage is lessening along with removal of certain tariffs in addition to crypto not eating up all the cards. These will be MSRP soon.
I was just at Microcenter last night. I looked at the video card selection and every card seemed like it was over $500. I couldn't find a single "budget" card there. Is this the reason?
Evga was selling these for $400 even in the middle of the shortage. I got one from them for $399.
That's good to know. So likely, it's $399 or lower. Where can we find the MSRP of this particular card, I wonder? I found an article stating the EVGA 3060 MSRP was $329. (same as the FE)

I approve this message. Even though I didn't listen to it. 😢

But for other brands, the MSRP could be higher or lower. They are doing things like adding more ram or better cooling to help justify higher prices.
