Lifetime for THE COMPUTER you install this on. It's non-transferrable. (Updates are apparently included) I'm seeing regular price between $69-99.

The free updates don't include upgrades.
IOW, when Office 2024 (or whatever) comes out you don't get to upgrade to it. However, you will still receive security, bug, and critical updates to your Office 2021 for the life of the product (thru Oct 13, 2026).

Also, read the ONE COMPUTER part as something that you control. If a computer that you had this Office 2021 on dies, you are fully able to license the same Office 2021 on a new computer, provided you log into your Microsoft account and remove the old computer activation. It's a full retail license that is fully transferrable - as long as it's only on one computer at a time.

Also², If you already have (or have had) a Microsoft account tied to a subscription Microsoft product (Office365/Microsoft365) Microsoft may not allow you to use that account for perpetual products (although this isn't explained when you try to use it). Just create a new, free Microsoft account and activate it that way. You can use the key you receive for any valid email address (regardless of the email address you enter when purchasing the Office 2021 Pro).

I purchased from here in mid April. Last week my installation suddenly restricted my access as unlicensed. I called Microsoft support and they tried to help but unable to saying something to the effect this was MSDN licensed and ultimately I would have to contact the seller. I do not recommend this deal.

I can't remember how many different times I've had to buy Microsoft Office. Finally moved to LibreOffice which is free and open source and it certainly does the job for me. Highly recommend trying it out before giving Microsoft your money.
Is LibreOffice better than OpenOffice? Or are they the same software with different names?

I bought this one back in January from SoftKeyWorld, total $27.81. And yes, it's still working! https://softkeyworld.com/product/...onal-plus/

Code SPRING22 for 20% off. Also code MEP1 for 35% off.

Edit: Code MEP1 is now 30% off effective 4/14/22.
I tried ordering through them but didn't get the activation code. Emailed them and didn't receive a response either. Please don't use this option.

I bought it from them and didn't receive the production registration key. Emailed them too and didn't get a response. Save yourselves the trouble and don't waste your money.
My key was in the confirmation email. Try chat if you don't receive a reply to your email.

I just took advantage of this offer and bought Office 2021 for Mac. After uninstalling/deleting (as per Microsoft instructions) all remnants of Office 2019 on my Mac, I logged in to my Microsoft account and entered my new product key. But when I go to my account and download/install Office 2021, I notice that I end up with Office 2019 again installed (e.g., the About Word info still says "Retail License 2019"). After a bit of investigation, my Microsoft account allows me to download and install each of my two most recent purchases -- Office 2019 and Office 2021 -- but either such download apparently downloads only the Office 2019 (v.16.60) installer.

Anybody else have this problem?

ANSWER: Turns out Microsoft has an Office License Removal tool that one may have to download and execute to remove the old (in my case, the 2019) Office license. After that, when first opening the first of any of the new apps from Office 2021, the usual log-in to your Microsoft account procedure begins wherein one selects the new license.

It didn't work for me. I tried getting the Windows version and it kept saying they are trying to acquire the license. Next day they sent me cancellation email.

There's old drama there, but the short version is that the folks behind "Classic" Open Office split off to make Libre Office after Sun Microsystems was bought by Oracle. So that's the one to get as it's a currently updated Free Office Suite, where Open Office has kind of languished since then.

Wow, this reminded me of this blast of the past deal:
https://slickdeals.net/e/8355911-ms-office-2016-14-99-for-students-and-school-faculty?src=SiteSearch...

I'm still using it today. 😂. Honestly, what kind of advancements have been done in 7 years in Microsoft Office products? Like the basic ones like Word and Excel?

EDIT: If they have full dark mode Excel, I'd consider upgrading. I'm talking about black cells and white text with a click of a button. In 7 years they were able to at least improve that.... right? Do tell!
This new version of Word automatically converts pronouns to "comrade" to prevent hate speech in your private notes & correspondence.

I guess its good until your hard drives dies (unless u make a clone image and save it somewhere). Otherwise its a good deal. My PC lasted 12 years. CPU died so once replaced it was good to go for another 12.

First- everyone should have a backup- extra drives are cheap.

Second, even if you don't, it's a software license, if your HD dies you put in a new HD and reinstall the software that you can download from Microsoft with your existing license as often as you need to download it-- you just can't install it on multiple different systems at the same time.

Same here... actually they let me place order, but within hours I was sent an email with no explanation stating my order was canceled and refunded

If you're a basic home user, sure. If you're a power user... (especially in the corporate environment) - it's changed quite a bit.
Power User & Microsoft? ::eyeroll::

Libre Office and Google Docs are free. No one uses this crap unless they're forced to by corporations.

Just purchased through the SoftKeyWorld link, and on the order completion page it has the URL for redeeming on Microsoft's site, as well as your key right there.
Opened up a browser on my new Macbook Air and redeemed the key no problem. Downloaded the software and installing right now.
There's way too much paranoia and misinformation in this thread. Both vendors are valid for legit, perpetual copies of Office.
UPDATE: after the Office install, the auto-updater went ahead and found the newest patches and let me install them as well.

There's a huge difference in capability and ease of use/integration between Office 365 and google docs, etc. Google docs are fine for basic users - but they're horrible for much of corporate use. I've experienced this first hand - and watching my wife right now who recently took a new job with a company that uses google docs try and create the same output - there's significant limitations - just for her between powerpoint and the google version. I'm a CPA and have worked on the finance/accounting side - often using excel and data analysis (even using access, etc.) - it's night and day - you would know that if you had actually experienced having to use both where you're having to have the tools perform more and more complex analysis, output - etc. - not even mentioning how much better the integration is without outlook/onenote which makes life much easier...
