I loved this series. The father of a client of mine who did something like this said this is the most realistic of anything he has seen. I'm sure there's a lot of fake stuff to it, but apparently it's pretty good in his eyes.

I watched this series a long time ago and it has some of my favorite actors. So when I saw it discounted this much I had to buy it myself and then post it here.

I served in Fort Bragg NC and got to meet some of the soldiers from The 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment–Delta AKA "Delta Force" or "The Unit" which this is based on...(The US government would not authorize the use of the name or insignia)

The big difference and fantasy that I noticed:
They real Delta Force soldiers don't look clean cut or for that matter military at all...... more like mercenaries.
They allow other branches to serve in The Unit. Especially the Air Force since the Army has excellent relations with the branch.

*Then there was the issue in which Gerhardt had the right to kill his commanding officers Col. Ryan per their code of honor???? IDK about that... they are still in the US Army and had to abide by the UCMJ.

The Unit was by far the best TV show of it's type, and even the at-home wives storylines were well done.

The only comparable show was The Brave - I was very pissed it only lasted one season.

Perhaps I'll get in trouble for sharing but I knew someone who took their 1 week training course. They said it was the worst week of their life. But it keeped them alive. He was told if anyone ask to describe the experience tell them to watch season 1 episode 8 called if I remember correctly "SERE" It took me a year to finally watch. It's was brutal. Best show but wasn't politically correct like Seal Team.
