150k pts is $1650 in cash with a Schwab card (potentially far more if used for certain travel)
Plus you get a slew of credits (of varying degree of usability) worth many hundreds of dollars more, most of which you can double-dip since they're calendar year based.... plus access to the best airport lounges around (though be aware you stop getting free guest access in Feb 2023 unless you spend a TON on the card)
For most folks this isn't a long-term keeper card (unless either you fly a lot out of a home airport with a centurion and you can get most of the value out of even the weirder monthly credits) but it's certainly highly profitable as a signup/holding for a year.... (sometimes a second depending if retention is offering anything decent- though the loss of free guests will ding that some)
What schwab card and how is it worth 1650. Please explain.
Thank you so much! Can you get the platinum bonus on the amex and then do the schwab one? Banking all those points together?
Yup.
Each different Amex card you can get the bonus once per lifetime (there's some exceptions like targeted offers that lack the lifetime language, and some folks claim after 7 or 10 years they can get one again, but generally once per lifetime per specific card is the rule)
There used to be like half a dozen different amex plat cards you could get with a bonus on each I think it's down to only 3 or 4 of them now... I know at least the Ameriprise and Mercedes ones are no longer available.

Thank you so much! I'm banned from most amex cards. But they seem to let me have the plat.

Schwab has their own version of the Amex Platinum card.
Until Aug 31 2021 you could cash out points for 1.25 cents each if you had that card (all your points, not just the ones earned on the Schwab card).
Since then it's only been 1.1 cents a point.
Which is still more than cashing out with the normal Plat. card, but either is much inferior value to what you can often get on transfers to airlines.
