Is this a digital download or a physical disk? My Quicken subscription doesn't expire until 2023. If it's a physical copy, I can save code until next year. A digital download with code expires soon, doesn't it?

This has happened to me on occasion, every time it has been the bank's data that was screwy. I've been a Quicken user for about 20 years, it used to be really buggy, the current version is actually not so bad. The new owners of the tool have put in some debug effort...

My personal opinion, no connection to Quicken...

I tried Quicken for years to keep track of my stock transactions from my brokerage. It was always wrong. It couldn't handle anything other than a simple sale or purchase. Any splits or reverse splits or buyouts and it was a nightmare trying to fix. Balances in Quicken never matched my brokerage balances.Data file was always corrupted and after doing the repair function it would double post every transaction. It was a real pain in the arse to fix. I finally gave up. Now I just use Mint. Its free and it does fine for tracking balances and brokerage and bank financial transactions. The fact all one reviewer here can say is its not so bad anymore says it all.

It's a physical disk. But it doesn't matter. Either the code you receive with the disk or the digital download code expires after 24 months. And you can renew 6 months before your current subscription expiration date.

I have 2017 on my PC. Can I installed a newer version and keep my old version? I rally do not want to mess around with a virtual machine, etc.

Unless something has changed since I subscribed (in 2020 when my 2017 stopped downloading) then no, it will upgrade you to the latest one.

There isn't much difference between the two though so not sure why you want to run them in parallel?

FYI you can unload the bitdefender code on Ebay for like $18 so sweetens the deal quite a bit if you don't need it. I assume similar with the other bundled products available, just gotta see what is selling for the most right now.

Disclaimer though - technically ebay does not allow selling digital goods unless you pay for a classified ad format which is expensive, however they do not seem to crack down on it. Since you will have no tracking number to upload it will also hurt your seller stats but not enough to matter for most people.

There are different Quicken codes. Some are "for new subscribers only", some are not. The one that comes with the disk is not, so it works for renewals.

I called Quicken and said I could get it at NewEgg for $31 and they offered me the same price and I don't have to worry about if it is just for new subscribers or wait for it in the mail. I didn't try to get the additional $4 off like this deal. Refreshed my Quicken and it was extended a year. Took 5 minutes tops.
