This Gateway laptop, assuming you get a good refurb (mine was like new) - has a far superior processor (https://cpu.userbenchma
Anyway, I have the lesser Motile from two years back. Upgraded the RAM (that one only had 4GB), and it has performed fine so far. It is light to the point of feeling somewhat fragile, the screen is decent though not super bright, and the keyboard and trackpad are both average. I can't believe they still have these with the 3500U. Would love to see this laptop with a 4000 or 5000 series CPU, and dual-channel RAM would also be nice.
Overall, glad to see we are back to where we were two years ago. Hopefully even better things ahead!

I have the Motile rebrand version and it's pretty decent for the price. The IPS panel is a little dim and the battery only lasts around 4-5 hours, but it plays games at 720p 30fps and can run a 4K monitor off its HDMI 2.0 port. Also comes with a full size ethernet jack, which is nice.
Linus Tech Tips did a good review on it:

Even the single-channel DRAM is not the 50% penalty that theoretical performance suggests. A number of sites report that "normal use" performance of dual vs. single is around +20%.
The display brightness is a valid issue; however, you may get lucky. The Motile M142 I bought tests at 270 nits, whereas the M141 I bought (and gave as a gift) was only around 220 nits.
Finally, Imo, this is only an OK deal around $299; what would make it hot is $249 or less. Price bounced around on the Motiles for a while; maybe we'll see $249 or less at some point.
This Gateway laptop, assuming you get a good refurb (mine was like new) - has a far superior processor (https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...vsm760067) [userbenchmark.com] more RAM (essential when you collect browser tabs like baseball cards back in the 80s), more HD space, more everything. I've had a great experience with this Gateway and consider it well specced at the price. This EVOO/rebadged Motile I'm guessing has a similar build quality.
