Not to threadcrap but....if you're at this price range and can be patient, and you are willing to consider a refurb, consider https://slickdeals.net/f/15707395-gateway-laptop-14-1-ips-i5-1135g7-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-refurbished-329-free-shipping?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

This Gateway laptop, assuming you get a good refurb (mine was like new) - has a far superior processor (https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...vsm760067) more RAM (essential when you collect browser tabs like baseball cards back in the 80s), more HD space, more everything. I've had a great experience with this Gateway and consider it well specced at the price. This EVOO/rebadged Motile I'm guessing has a similar build quality.

It's a Motile rebrand for those wondering.

Wait, I thought EVOO was the "real" brand. Wouldn't that make this a Motile unbrand?

Anyway, I have the lesser Motile from two years back. Upgraded the RAM (that one only had 4GB), and it has performed fine so far. It is light to the point of feeling somewhat fragile, the screen is decent though not super bright, and the keyboard and trackpad are both average. I can't believe they still have these with the 3500U. Would love to see this laptop with a 4000 or 5000 series CPU, and dual-channel RAM would also be nice.

Overall, glad to see we are back to where we were two years ago. Hopefully even better things ahead!

What, exactly is "Elite" about this model? Sort of like branding a cheap Ford as a "luxury" model...

The body of this laptop is actually a magnesium alloy and it's lighter than most 12" laptops. It's even lighter than the Macbook Air.

I have the Motile rebrand version and it's pretty decent for the price. The IPS panel is a little dim and the battery only lasts around 4-5 hours, but it plays games at 720p 30fps and can run a 4K monitor off its HDMI 2.0 port. Also comes with a full size ethernet jack, which is nice.

Linus Tech Tips did a good review on it:

I got the deal two years ago all so. I still use and love it. It's still fast enough for my school work and can play a few older games.

I like the EVOO for its weight. It's 2.5 lbs. the gateway is 4 making it a little harder to carry around school

Jeez can they dig up a celeron.. might get $500 for it, LOL
I disagree; the Ryzen 5-3500U is still a more than adequate performer (and 4 cores to boot). It benchmarks (passmark) roughly equivalent to an Intel Core i7-10610U (7098 vs. 7105). See for yourself via link below.
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/comp...3738vs3421

Even the single-channel DRAM is not the 50% penalty that theoretical performance suggests. A number of sites report that "normal use" performance of dual vs. single is around +20%.

The display brightness is a valid issue; however, you may get lucky. The Motile M142 I bought tests at 270 nits, whereas the M141 I bought (and gave as a gift) was only around 220 nits.

Finally, Imo, this is only an OK deal around $299; what would make it hot is $249 or less. Price bounced around on the Motiles for a while; maybe we'll see $249 or less at some point.

I fully back the value of the Gateway GWTN141-10.

I had/have the Motile ryzen 3500u and it's superior to this version with a backlit keyboard and IR scanner for Windows Hello which the Evoo model lacks. The refurb Evoo can be found for $250 and closer to a slick deal, although I'd rather watch EBay for a motile.
