They will partially open some to Non-Teslas to get their hands on the federal funding under Biden's bill.
A lot of that money is going to fund even more exclusive Tesla chargers.
Tesla's biggest advantage is their charging network and they are not stupid to give an all access everywhere to its competitors.
The same EV owner(s) who was even there this morning?! Yeesh.
I avg'd 3.9mi/kWh the whole trip. Running the numbers if I had a hybrid gas car that got 50mpg avg then it would have been almost as expensive as it would have cost if we had to pay for charging today. That's at $6 a gallon for gas and $0.43/kWh at EA. But once gas goes down to $4 or lower it would be cheaper to drive a hybrid car on a cost per mile not including maintenance.
If they don't start adding more charging stalls at each location then in a few years it's going to be very crowded to stop and charge on road trips. The Tesla stalls were so full there was a line at a couple locations we passed by yet there was open stalls at EA down the road. I can't imagine what charging is going to be like in 5-8 years. And if they release a ccs to tesla adapter then Tesla's will start taking over ccs chargers. By that time it will be more efficient to buy a PHEV instead of a full EV.

I did get max rate of 53 kW in my free session yesterday. It is next to Aldi, so slowly strolled the aisles and the car went from 40% to 76%. The software update limits max charge to 80% under any situation, so it thinks it is approaching 100% when in reality it is only nearing 80%, and the rate dropped to 7kW, and then 5kW at 77% when I gave up. The last 3 % would have taken another half hour.
The 4 stations were empty when we arrived. An Ioniq 5 came and left before us, and a ID4 came in to.
Also saw a rare RAV4 EV. He had to open the hood and charge with the Chadmeo station! It was funny!

If you are charging 4 times in one day, it pays to upgrade the plan for the month.

I knew the bolt was low but not that low. My i3 carries 49kW/h from 6% to 88% sometimes up to 93% but rare and tapers down to 35kW/h from 93% down to 20kW/h at 96%-97% but still pumps more than 10kW/h to 100%. so essentially no matter my SoC it's best quickest to use a DC charger. but to my next point...
I rarely DC charge, most of my charging is a 120v outlet at home and occasional 240v public charging when I'm out and about. when I do go to a DC charger I go to other networks that are cheaper then EA. The DC charger by my house is only $0.20/kWh always has an open stall and when I'm out & about my max cost limit is $0.35/kWh. I try very hard not to spend more than that.
The only time I ever use EA is when they do their free charging days.
I only charged that much in one day because I was using the free EA charging and went on a road trip. otherwise I rarely use a DC charger unless I'm doing 120 miles a day but even then I only charge for 10-15 minutes to get me enough to get finish what I'm doing and get home with enough charge that I can plug in at a 120v for 9 hours over night and then do 50 miles the next day. so about $1.50 - $2.25 once or twice a week to DC charge. sometimes once every two weeks.
As of today the US has just under 1% of all vehicles are EV.
Imagine if we reached just 10% mark.
First, the batteries are mostly not reusable, imagine the amount of pollution, it creates to dispose of thousands of batteries.
Second, people will be charging EV cars using electricity, which as of today produce by burning fossil fuels, 62% Electricity is generated in the US by Fossil fuel, just under 20% by Nuclear and under 20% by renewable sources.
So, people will be using more electricity to charge by burning more fossil fuels and then, all the big companies will earn billions in the name of Green energy EV cars.
In reality it creates hell lots of pollution and hell lots of greenhouse gases.
Where as over last 50 years, especially in last 5-10 years companies champion the gas and diesel cars by reducing pollution and improvised efficiency to a great extend and to a level which reduces the pollution.
Not to mention, in case of fire and accidents these EV cars would be more dangerous to the occupants and others.
Not against EV, but on deeper analysis this is another hoax to fool the masses.
Mean time in Texas I will still be driving my Toyota Tundra 2022 model which is really one of the best Truck out there.
