I'm not sure you understood his question. You absolutely do match a CPU to a GPU. For example, if you get a very powerful GPU but not a powerful enough CPU you're going to run into a bottleneck by the CPU and the GPU won't be able to hit full utilization among other things such as stuttering.
I was just about to reply witht the same thing. I understand what he means but he should explain it better to a first time pc buyer cause they could interpreted it wrong.

I'm currently building my first gaming pc. I plan on getting a 3070ti graphics card would this work well with that??
Honestly 11th gen is trash your better off with a 10th or 12th gen skip 11 but if your on a tight budget go for it just be aware these run really hot πŸ”₯ πŸ₯΅ πŸ˜….

Purchased at BB paid total of $337, requested PM, they give me $140 credit. I have no idea what happened with the math here.

Noob question, Building my first PC and trying to cut corners when I can. Mild use for gaming and more utility use for work/school. Would this be viable for a few years as opposed to 12 gen model? Best Buy will price match when I spoke with a rep. Was going to do this i7, 64gb ram, 3070ti, 850w power supply, 240 water cooler, 1-2tb SSD, Corsair 4000x case, ASUS 560-A MOBO
The 560 can't overclock CPUs. Look for a Z590 if that's important to you.

Good deal for the 3 people who live near a store.
I'll make sure and alert the 3 people that live in and around the greater Boston area given the location of a Microcenter alongside the Charles River in Cambridge, MA.

Most motherboards compatible with the 11th gen will be less costly than 12th gen motherboards
^ This

Everyone who is saying "just spend the $xx more and get a 12th gen i5" is ignoring the fact that the mobo and RAM (if you're going DDR5) also cost more. I totally appreciate that the 12th gens will be relevant for much longer for a number of reasons, but it will likely cost you $200+ more ATM to fully equip that, and most people likely won't even notice the difference in the near term. Unless you want the absolute premium and are also planning to pick up an RTX 40 when they drop, why not just take advantage of the fact 11th gen prices are dropping and then upgrade in a couple years when it actually matters?
