Time machine comments aside, these batter powered machines clearance so often at the end of seasons that if you have an old gas mower that can last just one more season, you are better off just waiting it out.

Your utility may also give a few bucks back for this mower. I got $40 back on my Kobalt 80v mower two years ago.

That aside, I own the push version of this mower, and its an absolute revelation. You may not need the self-propel because of its lightweight nature, and the lack of maintenance means you dont have to go on a goose chase looking for ethanol-free gas and/orclear out your carb every season. Been using mine for five years with zero issues.

To juxtapose with these awesome mowers...avoid battery-powered snow throwers like the plague...even if you see a serious markdown due to clearance (which should have been around now, lol), just dont...not enough power, clog like hell, and they usually dont have that sturdy build quality that you need for 3 ft+ snow drifts.

Costco has a second battery, double warranty, LED lights, dual battery port w/ switchover, and is $144 more.

If you don't have a yard that would warrant two batteries (maybe 1/3 acre or less), and are OK with the 4 year warranty instead of 8, the price is about right at $385.

My new home is just under .15 acres, so the self-propel mower is overkill anyway but I want the brushless motor and 80v. I think this is the better buy for my situation. For larger yards, the Costco is likely a better buy.

Though the model is different the feature set is very similar, I don't see any reason to feel one is older or newer, they are different as the lower priced one only has the one battery slot.

If you buy greenworks through Costco, the batteries are guaranteed for 8 years with free replacements. Good luck finding that anywhere else.

I think the Costco one is better. This looks like an older model. Also the Costco has 2 batteries. Also Costco seems to be sold out in a lot of places. So if you can find one. Grab it.

I'm testing one out to see if I like it or if I should go back to a gas

get 2 batteries instead of 1. Depending on the size of your lawn and turning off the self propel, you can probably do with just 1 battery.

Consumers Reports is not favorable on this series though. Next model up, MO80L510 is average at best. "Nothing about this mediocre 21-inch...the machine does a subpar job of dispersing clippings in side-discharge mode. The battery runs for about 30 minutes before it needs to be recharged,"

Difference in models is that the one they reviewed had the 5AH battery instead of 4AH.

This review turned me off on this purchase, I was close though.

This seems like a good deal. The Costco deal has two batteries, but my small lawn doesn't need that. I've been using a weed eater to mow my lawn, this will make it so much easier. Unless there's something obvious I'm missing, I don't see a downside. Thanks!

My biggest problem with battery powered ones are that battery go bad very soon and it's hard to mow .2 acer lawn with 2 40v batteries. Maybe it's issue with mine but that's the genuine issue that I faced.

All these battery powered mowers are for all of the postage stamp lawns they cram into every nook and cranny of land these days. Very inconvenient to use these on any decent size lawn and get through it with two batteries even - then the batteries die over time - and you have yet another battery charger you need to use - annoying. There is never a deal on a good ol' gas mower anymore, what a shame!
I have the 40v green works with 1+ acre. I also have 4 batteries ranging from 2AH to 4AH. It takes me 2 full charges two mow the front and back yard after the winter (the first mowing in the spring), however from a maintenance perspective I can do it with a single charge amongst all 4 batteries.

I've had this lawn mower for 5+ years now.

Also I purchased the refurbished from woot. My batteries weren't even new.

I cut my front yard, a hill, and other areas I can't get my zero turn in. I have a Kobalt 40V mower with a 5ah battery and probably cuts my 5000-6000 sq ft area easily on one battery. It's also self-propelled and still cuts without issue. This mower will easily cut a 1/4 acre lot and more. It does a lot more than a postage stamp yard.

Seems like a great price. The batteries generally last 4-5 years. I bought a Kobalt one not self propelled for $399 too bad I did not see this though I did get the military discount.

They have this for $350 with another seller on Amazon free shipping.

I do not mind getting the job partially done then waiting to finish. For now I have three 2 AH 80 Volt batteries as the old mower had one that still works I replaced. I had it for four years and one battery just died the blade was shot and the motor seemed to be struggling. It was also not brushless. Made more sense to replace than to get a new blade and new batteries.

I'd put very little stock in the CR reviews of these. I'm fairly certain the MO80L421 uses the same motor and deck as the older MO80L410 / 510 so I'm not sure why their tests are so dramatically different.

CR is also giving pretty high marks to Ryobi 40v mowers and those plastic decks are complete garbage. The blades cut into the sides of the deck and ruin the mower.

so if I have a lawn of say around 1500 sqft, mostly flat, I can do just well without a self-propelled mower and save a few hundred? currently own a corded mower.
