Amazon still mixes its own inventory with third party inventory.

Edit: why thumb down on a fact? Amazon mixes their own and third party (FBA) inventory to basically use them as cost-free safety stock at the expense of potentially selling counterfeits.

You're absolutely dead wrong. They co mingle their own stock with 3rd party stock they keep at their warehouses. You really think they have some magical special place where only items that came from the manufacturer are placed? Everything is based on barcode and if it scans correctly it goes into the box shipped to you. It doesn't matter where it came from. Otherwise how would you explain the numerous reports of people getting fake memory cards shipped directly from Amazon? And Amazon doesn't care one lick about your fake memory card if they can make billions charging sellers AND buyers. And as anecdotal evidence when I brought up my issue with my fake card that I bought directly from Amazon they couldn't have cared less. Since it was past 30 days they initially refused to do anything. I had to elevate it several times until I finally received a refund. And they didn't care one bit that the issue was that I had received a fake memory card shipped directly from them. I was surprised until I did some digging and found this was a huge widespread problem and that they know about it but don't do anything about it. Sure they'll throw a bunch of 3rd party sellers under the bus and ban them and god forbid some poor sap that makes a living as a third party seller be one of those people. Their entire source of income is gone in a flash with no recourse and Amazon pats themselves on the back for stopping counterfeit goods while willfully continuing a practice that lets counterfeit goods permeate their own stock. Just so they can double charge people.

Oh yeah and when I wrote a review stating that Amazon sold me a counterfeit memory card they took the review down. So take that what it's worth. Didn't they just ban some major third party manufacturers for encouraging people to leave a review? As far as I know they couldn't selectively delete negative reviews yet Amazon does exactly that….

Yep. Been burned before. Bought from directly Amazon. Didn't know until a year later. It doesn't matter they know about this issue but don't care. They continue to comingle their stock with 3rd party sellers. I only buy from Best Buy and B&H now.

Lol. My first computer had a single 5-1/4" floppy drive. External. 360 KB or less. EEK!
Ha... Good old days... Realizing that I could take a hole punch and double the capacity on a 5.25" floppy and save $$$ was one of the first legit "hacks" i learned.

Eta: I'm torn btwn getting this for my GoPro/camera, but fear my laziness in offloading the data and then losing the device without a backup.

Wanted to pop in and say I started with a Compaq 10MB hard disk monochrome suite case computer. It had a 386 with a math coprocessor and only ran the most basic of 5.25 floppy diskettes. I'm 40 btw. Haha.
Haha we're the same age. And yeah I remember those days. The 5.25 to the 1.44 was a game changer

I paid exactly this much for a 16MB Sony MemoryStick exactly 20 years ago lol. Technology is awesome!
In 1989 I built an external hard drive for my Atari 1040ST computer...the 25 MEGAByte Seagate drive (back when Seagate drives were actually quality) cost $275, not including the separate case, power supply and controller card that were also necessary.

I had to teach myself FORTRAN 4 and program a computer (cutting cards) in college in 1971...and that helped prep me to become a Navy Airborne Electronic Warfare Officer (1973-1982). Been a tech geek ever since.

Time and technology move inexorably along!

I've had 100% success with oem cards where I ONLY buy Samsung microsd shipped and sold by Amazon.

I know its just my experience but Ive got zero counterfeits for years following this strategy. Any other brand at Amazon seems to garner worse luck.

It took awhile. I used it in my Switch and didn't download much to it so it took awhile to to fill up. But I was having issues saying it was filled up way before it should have been. Since it wasn't a critical thing I didn't think too much of it. Finally decided to pull it out and check it and it still showed up as a 128 gb card. But it wasn't accepting any new data. Didn't occur to me it could be a fake since I'm always careful about buying directly through Amazon. I don't know what made me think about it but I finally figured it out and ran H2testw and found out it was only a 32 gb much slower card. I wish I kept the packaging it was a good fake. Since it was past 30 days Amazon did not care one bit that they were selling fake memory cards.

They are selling this same version at Walmart for $21. It is a Chinese fake model. Do not buy it.

It wasn't a partition issue. I was sent a fake 32 gb card instead of a 128 gb card so that solution wouldn't have worked.

Micro SD card prices drop really fast nowadays. Still going to wait until it drops below $100 before purchasing.

Also, this Sandisk card is pathetically slow compared to the rest of the other competitors. It's the cheapest price, but Sandisk themselves are also being cheap too by not bringing up to the standard at this price point.

These card have 10 year warranty. Pro-tip, send SanDisk support the serial number of the card along with the place and date of the purchase. Ask them to verify if the card is legit. If they do, you can use that emaol as proof in case you need to claim warranty.

1TB sd cards. What a time to be alive. In 2002 I worked at best buy and we had 16mb flash drives. I had one in my pocket as a demo for customers that I'd show them as I sold PCs and I legit forgot it was in my pocket at end of shift. Walked out and almost got fired. My reputation as an honest and reliable person saved my butt.

You couldn't pay someone to take a 16mb flash drive today

Love it!
