Nah. 4ah vs 1.5 ah battery. Full size recip vs one hand. Lights don't have motors. Ryobi oscillators aren't too great in any version. The drill is a non issue, esp. considering the versions included in these kits. Your set was cheaper, has more tools, and more battery capacity. Around the house with the particular tools in these sets you won't notice a difference outside of that smaller second battery. The difference brushless provides doesn't work out to anything meaningful with the way these bundles are set up.

If someone is using a tool so much that they're wearing out brushes, they're likely a professional who uses it several hours a day five days a week and that person is probably not buying low end Ryobis.

There're many reasons why someone might want to go with the nicer brushless tools, but the practically non-existent need to replace brushes shouldn't be one of them.

Oh, and another thing, I used to replace brushes in DeWalt products for others - but honestly, by the time those tools needed a brush change, they were so old and beat up that I questioned putting the time and expense into them versus just getting something modern.

Just bought essentially this kit for $40 less than two months ago. Grinder instead of oscillating tool and one of the batteries was 4Ah. Seems luke warm at best.

Also, while the brushless tools are nice, my brushed set has been working fine for a decade. So for the conversations on the brushed combo sets offered for much less, you are fine. Stick with the brushed set you have until you find a need for a better tool.

Yup, it's still active. That set is the basic drill + impact driver + reciprocating saw + flashlight with a 1.5 Ah and 4.0 Ah battery. (The 4.0 Ah battery is the star of the show… The 1.5 in the hack set is the basic unit with no indicator lights.)

I got in on that one as well, but these tools are much nicer. I needed the multi-tool, and have been eyeing the compact brushless drill/drivers for a while now; most reviews indicate that these newer compact brushless drills are the bees knees; much smaller and lighter, with full power and battery battery life.

That set was a really great deal, but substantially different than this one, even aside from the angle grinder. It didn't have the Compact High Performance drill/drivers, the 1.5 Ah battery in that set was the basic no-gauge battery, the recip saw was full size not one-hand) and it came with a lantern instead of a flashlight. The only part in common was the battery charger.

It was very much a great deal - and the 4.0 Ah battery was a nice sweetener, but all the tools were different.

Anyone know why the sawzall looks different than my brushless one? Is this version older or newer? mine doesn't have the camel hump in the middle

Yes it is. The non brushless drill and driver suck compared to the brushless versions. You can easily tell the difference as the brushless tools are at least 2 generations ahead. The impact has more led's, a selector switch for torque, and you pop in driver bits by pushing them in instead of having to pull out the head to unlock first. Way more convenient!

The brushless mini reciprocating saw is worth 3x-4x more than the non brushless 5.5" circular saw. Mine broke the 2nd time I had kickback cutting up plywood. Bearing got trashed. I literally did a dozen cross-cuts on 2x4's, and then tried to cut up 2 sheets of plywood into 1ft strips. Didn't even bother to send it in for warranty.

Buy a HP 7 1/4" circular saw separately. Way more options for blades and usually cheaper and readily available than trying to find a specialty blade for a 5 1/2" or 6 1/2" saw.

Buy a regular size reciprocating saw separately because the one included in your kit sucks too. It's ok for light work.

For $20 more, this brushless kit is a fantastic deal. Your kit goes on sale for $199 a few times a year. It's a good value for someone who is starting with nothing, but I recommend you upgrade now with this deal.

Don't worry about the battery. Around Father's Day, the Ryobi Days event kicks off and you can get extra batteries then. It's $99 for two 4ah batteries, a charger, carry bag, AND choice of free tool. I have a total of 6 batteries now and wish I had the 1.5ah ones. They're not worth buying separately, but more comfortable to use when you only need to use a tool for a few mins. Most of mine are 4ah from the Ryobi Days deal.

You could get a reciprocating saw or circular saw at that point if you need them, but the free circular saw is 6 1/2". I'd recommend you still hold out for a sale on a 7 1/4" saw separately….even if it's a corded one. I now have a 5 1/2" (the broken one), 6 1/2" (Dewalt cordless), 7 1/4" Ryobi cordless, and I'm thinking about getting a corded one because the cordless isn't powerful enough sometimes.

I paid $150 for a five tool set, so about $30/tool. I don't have room for a table saw or miter saw, so besides a jigsaw the circ saw is the only power tool I have that can cut straight. I can't even tell you how many times I used it in the year plus I had it. I would say I got my $30 worth.

Annoying drills don't come with magnets to hold screws/bits anymore. Dang supply chain issues ruining everything.

I'll probably hot glue a hard drive magnet to the recent drill I bought.

got the 75 for 4 tools and 4ah and 1.5ah. I understand the brushless is much more powerful, I just use tools from time to time. Does it make sense to upgrade?

I have yet to see a tool/yard tool combo from ryobi, but I'm not saying they don't exist. I have some older green brushed hedge trimmers and have not had any issues with them, but I only trim the hedges once a month in the summer, and once every other month in the winter. This is a great way to get into the brushless lineup, even if you are a homeowner, this set is literally less than $50 more expensive than the brushed equivalents, and they just feel better. I have a lot (I do remodels) of brushed/brushless tools and 1.5, 2, 3, 4, a 6ah, and a 9ah battery. They all have their place. If you try to use a 1.5 or 2ah battery on a recip saw, circ saw, or vacuum, you will be upset. There are typical uses for each battery/tool combo. Just take a second to think about it before use and you will be good.
