A little pricey if you compare. But this is the 980 PRO, not just the "980". Good SSD, and if you have the 4x bus to support it, it's awesome!

Man. I'm starting to think the $116 FireCuda 530 from GameStop the other day wasn't a price mistake. These prices really are coming down fast.

Macs are all propiatary and the newer ones the drives are soldered after 2017 I think. There are only two companies that make replacements for the older ones look on Amazon.

PNY makes great stuff and in the real world for a regular user, literally no one will notice a difference between the two or even with a 3.0 SSD.

I have both a gen4 and gen3 nvme in my computer. As far as gaming and every day use goes, I don't really notice a difference over when I was using a sata ssd.

However, I did copy my steam library from one drive to the other, and wow... watching that progress bar was one of of the beautiful sights I had ever seen. Even if I never have to do such a large file transfers again, just experiencing that one time made the purchase completely worth it and I have no regrets.

And keep in mind, that transfer was bottlenecked by the gen3 drive. If my motherboard supported it, I would get two gen4 drives purely for the sake of getting to witness an even faster file transfer.

Does this have DRAM? Also, DRAM affect gaming performance like loading maps and texture?

Also- once direct storage API comes into any sort of common use fast gen4 drives will have a measurable impact on gaming.

Any idea how this works with a PS5? I see the specs fall within the PS5 recommended speeds.

I have 2TB 980 Pro in my PS5 it "seems" slightly faster than the regular drive. But getting the game to load 1-2 seconds faster isn't how I get my jollies off.

Confirming this comment. Tech podcast commented on how some peeps bought different Mac laptops and tried to swap parts..... Got a BIOS error message or something like that. Everything is locked down. Pretty sure RAM is too
