There's stories about that with every major manufacturer these days.
Just get a model with features you want, a decent warranty, and in the price range you want.

Not a good deal if your fridge breaks down after some short time. Just had an LG repaired yesterday for a failed compressor (evaporator coil was full of liquid). Idiot companies that cut corners on parts and then spend more than a brand new fridge on repairs.

For a slightly larger capacity model, the 28 cu ft LMXS28626S is also currently on sale for $1699.99.

If this goes bad can't you just take it back to costco (providing you keep your membership)?

Appliance repair tech here. You couldn't give me and lg refrigerator right now.
I'm a former appliance tech, have been out of it for about 8 years now. Is there anything new worth buying? My personal opinion is that there isn't much worth getting between what I know and what I hear and see on the sales floor. I have a whirlpool bottom freezer with the jazz board, it's about 10 years old and I keep thinking I might do well to upgrade before R600 takes over and I can't get r134a anymore.

How long is/was your warranty? If u had to pay, how much does this work typically cost? 🤔
Per the repair tech, the compressor warranty is 10 years due to losing a class action lawsuit, however if it is more than 5 years old, consumer is responsible for paying labor for the replacement ($500 in my case)

Honestly most all of it sucks these days but with the lg compressor issue its just a big expensive job. I tell my customers G.E #1
Whirlpool corporation #2 and then Frigidaire. I personally own Frigidaire and like it. They seem to be 20% cheaper on average too.
I know the jazz board all to well i replace a lot of em.

But not every company loses class action lawsuits
Pretty much every major company has.

We can keep going.....

Please, let me know what brand of car you drive and I'll be happy to run the "if there is a class action lawsuit against the brand, it must be bad" test Wink

Awesome deal for awesome fridge. Just do not trust height specified in the manual, as those little feet under the fridge are not included in the total. Add 1.5-2 inches to the height.

Also, be aware you would not be able find spare parts from third party sellers. From that perspective American brands are preferred by far.

Just wanted to post a warning that LG compressors have a seriously bad reputation for failure. About seven years ago I bought a brand new LG fridge and the compressor failed TWICE during the warranty period. About a year after the warranty expired it failed a third time and the entire unit had to be junked. Replaced it with a Whirlpool and haven't had a single issue since.

i pretty sure you would find a class-action lawsuit against the large law firm that does class actions.

My friend has some Frigidaire that he said keeps getting fixed/replaced under warranty. I don't know if he was being sarcastic when he said he's on his 3rd or 4th or 5th replacement, lol. Have a Samsung that was bought used maybe 8 years ago? Still going strong but have to knock frozen ice out every once in a while. Have a more recent Maytag that died after 5 years maybe? My bro purchased and installed a new circuit board and its been working fine ever since.

Moral of the story, I have a low sample size, but fridges seem to be more failure prone compared to other appliances.

Is this model rated by consumer reports by any chance?
