No, it will still downscale to the resolution of your TV. But this model is the best current Fire stick due to its speed.

Oh dang. When i placed the order few hours ago, shipping was no free. Frown

EDIT: HSN came through. After chatting with them, they refunded the shipping on my order!

I have a 4k model from 2019 (old remote which did not have the dedicated buttons for Netflix etc). Do you have any comparative analysis on what's better in this new model? Im tempted to buy one but just don't want to have one lying around for no reason

I've had them all, and amazon isn't my favorite but for a wifi 6 and not many hoops to get @ $28 I'll bite.

RaspberryPi with Plex, but it's really a headache to keep remounting the HDD if you have to shut it down occasionally. It's not the most user friendly way but it works. You can use Plex app on Fire TV to watch them then.

You can't mod Roku. I dropped Roku and went with Fire TV, while Roku is much more reliable, fast, has a much better watchlist/search and built-in functions, I think Fire TV has come a long way since early versions. They all definitely slow down over time too, Roku doesn't slow down as much.

max is faster overall and has better wifi but if you dont find anything wrong with your current model, don't bother with this one yet.
