Personally, I have yet to find any citronella product that can effectively repel mosquito - live plants, essential oil, candle, etc. We don't have severe mosquitos problems but enough to be annoying when sitting outside in the summer.

That said, if nothing else, we still use citronella candle because the scent is pleasant. Just not as a repellant.

Thanks OP

Got these a couple weeks ago. Limit was one two pack but you could order one set of each color.
These are big candles. Should last many hours. 3 wicks. Great deal. The black and cream are nice. The other one looked good in the photo but when I got it looks different. Looks like the old silver metal car wash buckets. The way OSB plywood looks but with metal. More silver looking than the darker color in the photos.

Someone had commented on a reddit sub (bath and body works) that they got these candles but they did nothing for mosquitos as well as had very little throw. I'm trying to see if these are worth buying, irrespective of the low price. Any personal experience will be appreciated. Thanks and reps.

I occasionally stumble across giant citronella 'incense stick' looking things; they're the most effective area citronella product I've found

These do nothing for mosquitos. Simply treat them as outdoor candles and if you are content with that for the price then this is a good deal.

Came here to say this.

"The citronella candle had no effect."

Mosquitos were bad last summer. I've mounted a bat house hoping some will move in and have a feast.

Who are you, the candle police? Lol

I've had good luck using this product every few weeks during peak months. Nothing is will 100% eliminate them but this works pretty well and is far cheaper than using professional services.

I have been spraying Cyzmic CS every 2-4 weeks, it does reduce the mosquito population quite a bit. I found out about it from a pro, it's what he used. It's not 100% effective but I guess nothing is with mosquitos.

Apparently you don't live in Southern California. We do have a severe mosquito problem with this new breed of "ankle biters." No noise, but bite ankles all day long, repeatedly! Two little guys will bite you and guest all day, all night! No ankles? They'll settle for arms legs or whatever. Lotion will help, but these guys will skim the surface and look for that one little spot you didn't coat, and bite you there. Very aggressive. Supposedly came from Japan a couple of years ago.
Yep, SoCal problems. Plus, I live next to a canal that has pools of still water frequently, plus I often forget to clean the fountain when it's not in use, so they've always been present in my backyard. I used to get bit dozens of times while working outside, until recently, when I started grounding myself barefoot in the soil as a practice while meditating. This might sound crazy and I don't know what this has to do with it but I literally don't get bit anymore and am out there working and pass through swarms of them doing their little cluster dance sometimes. Also, I stopped using fake skincare products and deodorants and opt for hemp, or natural baking soda, citrus type stuff.

wow. You definitely have me thinking. I'll be super apprehensive about going out on the grass barefoot, but I'm going to look into grounding myself in the context of meditation. It's worth a try. Do you make a point of grounding yourself every time you go outside? Or after you ground yourself once, you're good for other times also? Thanks
