There's also a coupon for 25% off the blueberry ones, but I could only get it to apply to a single box.

10 grams of protein is nice, but 17 grams of sugar is nuts.

Watch out for the extremely high added sugars (it's 1/4 sugar by weight!) for those interested. No wonder I used to love eating them years ago...

soy is known for having isoflavones which are a type of phytoestrogen that mimics the same effects that estrogen has on the body. it can be linked to higher estrogen levels in the body. up to you if you care or not about that

If you're downing these whilst sitting on the couch watching TV, then yes, it's nuts.

If you're eating them half-way through a 15+ mile hike like I normally am, it's far less nuts...

These are terrible for you in case anyone is wondering. It has 17 grams of sugar (16 grams are added sugar) and only 10 grams of protein....which is a very high level of sugar for such a low amount of protein. For comparison, the cheap protein bars I get at Aldis or Costco typically have around 3-6 grams of sugar for 10-15 grams of protein.

Adding on to this, beer and beans also have isoflavones but nobody seems to care. In fact, beer has higher levels of estrogen-like compounds than soy according to some articles (so it's ironic that soy is considered good for women while beer is associated with men).

The levels provides in food is very small, estrogen is needed and produced by both male and females anyways, and the danger is overblown.

The real danger in this "protein bar" is the 17 grams of sugar...which is an extremely high level of sugar for a low level of protein at only 10 grams.

Soy protein is fine for both males and females, men and women. The compounds in soy that people claim is bad for males because it resembles estrogen also exists in beer and beans (but nobody talks about those and beer is somehow promoted as good for masculinity). And both males and females naturally produce and need both estrogen and testostrone, the levels in foods is pretty miniscule, and the danger is greatly overblown.

In fact, some sites say the estrogen like compounds in beer are found in levels significantly higher or more potent than the ones found in soy:
"Beer contains phytoestrogen and prolactin. These two chemicals can increase the estrogen levels your body produces"
https://ltmensclinic.com/does-bee...20low%20T.

"The Most Potent Phytoestrogen Is in Beer. In fact, it's the most potent phytoestrogen found to date, fifty times more potent than the genistein in soy..."
