How is this compared to Traeger 620 at Costco? Regardless price, which is better?
There are few reviews that Campchef catches fire!
I like the easy ash tray but not sure if I should better go with Traeger if it has higher quality and safer.
My SG24 arrived with paint chips and rust on the side table and paint bubbling on the barrell. No big deal - I read that Camp Chef's warranty is great. Not - they returned one of my emails and have 100% ignored me ever since.
It's too heavy for me to repack and return by myself so I'm stuck with it. I about destroyed all the foam packaging trying to get it out of the box myself - have a 2nd person available to avoid this problem. Amazon wouldn't budge on sending someone to pick it up for me or me not having to repackage it.
Also, for the Wifi models, the Camp Chef app on Android is terrible. Just read the reviews. The Wifi is a joke, and your bluetooth range is about 5-8 feet.
I wanted the side table and had heard that Camp Chef was as good or even better value than Traeger, but I wish I had just bought the non-Wifi Traeger at Costco.

Thanks for sharing your feedback.
How is the smoke adjuster and ease to clean ash tray? These are not found on Traeger 620 sold at Costco.

The ash cleanout cup is cool and will prevent you from having to vacuum the barrel as often, but you still get ash throughout the bottom of the barrel that will have to be thoroughly cleaned every so often with a shopvac.
Also, unlike Traeger, the drip tray has holes in it that allow for better smoke and heat circulation in the barrel. This is nice for circulation, but not so nice for wrapping the tray in foil for easier cleanup.

1. ability to dump burned pellets after each use without taking apart the grill and shop vac'ing. kind of crazy. they have a patent, no one else has this feature.
2. variable smoke setting. 1 to 10 and works great
3. ability to dump pellets from hopper. not on other brands.
4. temperature swings are way lower than the traeger
i have friends with the traegar and pit boss, and have used their machines. camp chef is a better designed product. both of my buddies said they wish they knew and would of got one.
that said, i wouldnt get the woodwind version. i just dont see how a stainless lid and wifi (that doesnt work) are worth the extra. DLX is great. as the user above noted, teh woodwind has holes in the dip tray, i think thats a really really bad design. drips =fire. the DLX has a solid drip tray, no issue there. the woodwind is trying to be a pellet smoker and grill, which i think is a bad idea. have a really good smoker and a seperate grill. combining makes both uses suffer

However, looking at the reviews for this smoker, it appears that one of the "action" photos are of my model - showing the two upper racks and the louvered drip pan, but you appear correct - the model in this deal does NOT come with the louvered drip pan, which I think is a good thing.
Also, you do have vacuum the barrel out occasionally. If you rely exclusively on the ash cup, you risk having a fire. Probably what happened in the reviews that claim a fire hazard with these smokers. But yes, you have to do it way less often than a Traeger. Probably every 4-6 long smokes.
I'm not sure. I'm a bit disappointed with some of the build quality on the Camp Chef and I totally regret paying extra for the Wifi model which just doesn't work at all. If their supposed great warranty support were to come through, I'd say I'd stick with Camp Chef. But as it stands right now, if I could snap my fingers, I'd swap it for the Costco Traeger. For $400 though, you probably can't go wrong with this one.
