Step 1) Buy LG V30 on eBay for $50 in flawless condition

Step 2) Root it and install Android 11 on it

Step 3) Enjoy all the features it has that are better than the Nord N200

Step 4) Instead of buying a yearly plan for ~$15/month through an MVNO, pay T-Mobile ludicrous amounts for their garbage plans so you can get a statement credit and a new Oneplus Nord N200.

Hard pass.

You'll still have to pay shipping and tax on the new phone. Comes out to $20-$30 depending on your sales tax. Just FYI

How about your monthly bill from Tmobile?

With so many promotional credit, the bill could be negative ?

I have 7 lines, with 18 account level promotion credits now. 3 still not paid in full. But now the monthly charge is close to 0.

Edit: not that bad

How much is your monthly bill? 18x promo credits and still not $0?

15X promotional credits net, without those my monthly charge should be around 120$ or so.

Just to make sure I'm interpreting this right.

Essentially T-Mobile lending us the $216 and asking us to make 24 monthly payments of $9.

With each monthly payment, instead of us paying an additional $9, they apply a "promo credit" of $9 to cancel it out?

So we shouldn't see any change to our monthly bill right?

Thanks. Used a $5 tracfone I bought years ago.
Did you find the exact model of your phone in their list of phones that you will be trading in?

This is the same/similar to a thread that was already posted about this before ... Here is my reply from there, if it helps...

Have been with T-Mobile for a LONG time (20+ years. Hey, they've worked out for me), but used an old Samsung S4 with a prepaid card in it for a 3rd line of "whatever" usage. Got a text on it back in Feb (March?) mentioning to trade in the older phone for a FREE OnePlus 5G phone because of them discontinuing the 3G coverage etc...
Went into a local store, they had to call/look it up, as it is a new Deal and not everyone gets it (guess only pre-paid sim cards/accounts and older phones). But, they put the sim card into the new phone (FYI, the New phone comes WITH a Sim Card in the box! (TMobile card. And the new box also has a wall charger + cable too.) So they shouldn't charge you for one), they set it up and NO charge or fee's at all !!! (Zero cost) Not sure if that is because I'm a LONG time customer, or was their normal procedure.
It did take a more knowledgeable guy a while to figure a way out, to transfer the Contacts from the old S4 to the new OnePlus. Had to do it through Bluetooth I believe.

Yes, the Nord N200 is a budget phone but, It's highly rated for what it is (online and from the store employees), and is more than capable for those that only need a PHONE, not a gaming pad etc. Stick Out Tongue Not much bloatware on it that I can tell. Removed the McAfee but it is tied into Google a lot! (are all phone this way now?)

What, you wanted to pay the 24 months with your own money instead? Who gives you a free phone without credits these days from the Big Three?

They pay the monthly fee, until the phone is paid off after 24 months, your only liable for the tax up front, which should be around 20-30 bucks, depending on your sales tax

Gone are the days when contracts were explicitly called contracts. You would sign for 24-months and would get the best of the best phone option. Now, we are happy to do the same for a mid-ranger with trade-ins because its not a contract 😀😀😃😃
Just make sure your not trading in a Galaxy20 or Iphone 11 or newer phone for a mid-ranger, otherwise your no longer "winning" their game. I would be happy to trade in a 2-3 year old phone for a new phone, if I only had to pay taxes on it. They can credit me that monthly fee for the two years. Its better than me dishing out 800+ for a flagship or 400+ for a midrange out of my own pocket.

The deal you mention is different, and much better, than this one. You got the targeted offer because the phone on the line will not be compatible on their network come the summer.
Similar to the deal I got on Sprint for having a Moto G5+ on the line. . .free pixel 6, no trade in, no tax, no sim fee, no bill credits. Free, Free, and free and clear. . .while others with newer phones on their lines got "free" pixel 6 etc. offer with trade in of their current phone, through bill credits, and tax on MSRP due. Don't expect another deal like to happen until the 4G gets shut down, long time, but it was a nice one timer bonus!

I pay $53 per month for 9 lines unlimited everything, including taxes and Netflix. There are others that can even beat that price, so I wouldn't get too cocky with your strutting $120 for 8 lines.
Shit. I wish I had the old insider. Otherwise I'd be right there with you with 9 lines. The new insider limits suck.

How to get this offer:
-Trade in any undamaged, functioning cell phone.
-Purchase a new OnePlus N200 5G on a monthly payment plan and pay applicable sales tax on pre-credit price at time of purchase.
-Receive 24 monthly bill credits totaling $216.00.
-A $30 assisted or upgrade support charge may be required.

For me, that is $15 tax + $30 support fee (if not waived) = $45 for the N200.
And don't forget the 2 year commitment...not a great deal IMHO

Yes, the catch is if you cancel service or the line they are attached to, the credits disappear. The workaround is to pay for the device and then the credits are no longer associated a specific line and just with your account in general.
