I don't know how long these batteries last, but ONE replacement battery costs $200 which is more than the mower itself with 2 batteries. You are better off buying two mowers which come with 2 batteries each, but how long do the batteries last on shelf not being used? One way or another you will probably get ripped off by the cost of the replacement batteries.

Just finished reading the reviews on Amazon on this mower. Whenever I read reviews, I only read the bottom ones and it seems that this mower's battery lasts only about 1/2 of what's advertised and I'm sure the battery's life is reduce yearly and who knows how long it will last. My Craftsman's gas mower lasted 12 years and I got it for only $200 thanks to Slickdeals. That comes out to $16.67 per year for a lawn mower plus the gas cost. It's too bad the gas mowers sold these days aren't very reliable and they don't last too long.

not sure where you're looking, they're 39.99 each here?: https://www.greenworkstools.com/2...sb-battery

I was mistaken about the replacement battery cost. It's 24V and not 40V and 24V replacement battery is only $39 but it's 2AH and that's all I see on their website and not the 4AH kind. So, when the batteries die I guess the mower becomes useless.

Why don't they make these damn batteries universal, so I can buy and use DeWalt's?

Yes, I know and I posted the correction right below your post.

But, that's 2AH and this mower uses 4AH. I don't see 4AH on their website.

Yep you are correct, I just noticed the 2AH as well. I found the 4AH here:
https://www.greenworkstools.com/2...-battery-1

The 4AH is advertised as "High Capacity" so here's hoping we're able to get more use out of the ones bundled even with battery degradation than the standard battery.

I'm beginning to think that this model is pretty old (24V) since Amazon is selling 40V model. If I had to guess, the batteries have been collecting dust and you'd be lucky if they lasted a few years if that.

It's $79.99 and you need two, so that's $160 which is almost at the cost of the whole mower with 2 batteries. Besides, they aren't even in stock and they probably won't stock them anymore, so when the batteries die you are out of luck with this mower.

They now have 60V and 80V mowers, so 40V thing is going away for sure.

If they lowered the price to $100 then I would buy and throw away when the batteries die. Even then, it might not be cost effective. LOL

They actually just released a new 5AH 24V battery:

Considering the SPRINGFEVER promo code extends to batteries, I would imagine some might have picked them up for the 20% savings.

I have a Kobalt lawnmower. Batteries still good after 4 years. Green works is better brand than Kobalt, I think these will be good for 5+ years

I'd look at direct tools outlet. They have some pretty good deals on factory blemished if you're not an elitist.
