I've been buying MSI GS laptops for 7+ years... and the first few years were ROUGH with regards to quality... MSI didn't care, ever, that I opened the laptop up and "voided" my warranty by upgrading my RAM, SSD, etc... heck just last year I had to RMA a laptop to them and they still didn't care that I punched through the void sticker to upgrade RAM/SSD. I think if you go in and break the motherboard or cause internal issues and try to RMA it... that's where they will deny your warranty claim.
that's b/c opening the laptop does NOT void the warranty. the sticker is there to scare people and canadians. The sticker does not mean anything in the USA

Canadians are too polite to upset someone over a sticker

Kinda misleading title. It cannot be 1049 if you can't apply the shop card to the order.
Costco is like Amazon to most... you use it frequently. The $150 can be used almost like cash, just buy a $5 item and you'll get $145 cash back... in cold cash.

Unfortunately, most manufacturers put a sticker or something similar over a screw or area on the bottom of the laptop that says opening it voids the warranty. It's not like the old days, of a couple of years ago.🙄 I think it's ridiculous to void a warranty because you make an upgrade. You certainly don't want to upgrade anything during the return period of the laptop too, as many stores have a policy that if you open it you bought it. I'm not sure about COSTCO, which would be my first choice of where to buy anything.
This isn't legal in the United States anymore. They can put that sticker so they want but it's not enforceable

technically it does not void the warranty. But in reality, you'd have to fight with them and get FTC invoived.
The manufacturer have to proof why removing the screw caused the damage, which is almost impossible to proof.
Mention the ftc and I bet they fix it just to keep the scare tactic in place. They don't want the ftc to say they can't have the stickers at all.

You would be surprised. FTC don't really care.

damn i was kinda holding out for a deal on a hp spectre but this is mighty tempting. biggest cons i have against the z16 is the small mousepad, low battery life, no charging thru usb-c but i think i could live with that

16 gb ram and 1 tb ssd is more than enough for me

for the costco extended warranty, would we be dealing with costco directly or MSI?
No gaming laptops will have great battery life. It's unfortunate because they are like tanks. Even when I bought a new 15r3 (1070) and had it on max power savings, low screen lighting I could barely squeeze over 3 hours (they stated 5). I ran the battery report too to confirm it wasn't gimped.

Basically they are portable desktops that let you game on the road lol.

it also looks like the z16p has usb-c charging, 1080p webcam
https://www.msi.com/Content-Creat...Z16P-B12UX

90 day return. Buy now and if a better deal drops by August, it's an easy return. Plus, that's 90 days to try it out to see if meets your expectations.
