I charge my 2021 Macbook Air with a Motorola adapter from a smartphone, This is handy particularly when travelling light. I have been doing this for 3 years with two different Macbook Airs without any problems.

It charges at 6 watts, not really enough to charge while using it but it charges overnight just fine. It more-or-less maintains the charge if plugged in and using the device but it does not gain any charge, but it's good to have it plugged in while streaming a movie or something.

The charger consumes 2-3 watts when charging other devices or 10 watts when fast-charging a Moto G Power or G5 or what have you.

I wonder if a 20w charger like this would charge the Air faster while still being small and light? Might be an upgrade for me.

The Macbook Air comes with a 30W charger in the box. This charger is only 20W, you need a 30W minimum. If you care about portability, look at chargers with GaN tech. For example, https://www.amazon.com/Charger-An...08T5QVTKW/

Wrong. You can charge an air any a 1 watt block, or 30, it just takes longer

Cause it's attached to power most of the time and I don't do much to tax the system so it keeps up with it. And if I need faster charging I have crap ton of other chargers including the 61W that came with it.

I never said that you can't charge the laptop using a charger that is less than 30W. But it doesn't make any sense using a charger that is less than 30W (MBA comes with 30W in the box).

If the charger is <30W, and you're charging while using the laptop. Your laptop will be consuming more battery than the rate of charge that's going in. The only time you'd actually get a charge is if the laptop isn't being used while charging.

If you can afford a Macbook Air, you can afford a 30W+ chargers and not handicap yourself.

meh. I have random power adapters usb of all sizes around house, I charge laptop overnight wherever is closest, 1watt or 50watt, as long as its 100% next day, im good.

not everyone is on a MacBook Air long enough to need a recharge. (my m1 MacBook Air) im on now last me 8 hours for my purpose.

I have a 45 watt anker nano 2 though, I swear it charges to 100% in like 30 minutes with laptop not being used. I don't know the limit for how much juice it can accept for fast charging tbh.

Looks dead to me - I see 5% off ($17.98) now, no 30% off 2nd.

Because when I travel (even just for the day) I like to save the weight and bulk of the larger charger and heavier charge cable. If I need a charger, the smallest and lightest rig that get it's done is the best.
