While the heat feature sounds interesting, I can't imagine using it for more than a few odd weather days per year, given the limitations.
Lastly, for those considering the LG, check the reviews of nearly identical previous models. Quite underwhelming, to say the least.

Never heard of the brand before so wondering if it's worth rolling the dice on that vs the Midea unit here.
As long as all the vents are fully outside the wall, you're fine. If they are even partially blocked, you are asking for trouble.

If your side opening window is significantly taller than the A/C unit here, you'll need to come up with a lot of material (wood panel, plastic panel, foam, etc.) to block up all that space when your window is open.
You can't turn the A/C on its side if you were thinking of doing that.
If you call any HVAC contractor, wholesaler, or manufacturer and say "heat pump" they will not think you are talking about a "non-reversible" heat pump.

The defrost cycle purpose is to melt any ice build up on the outdoor coil but is not the main reason many HP's perform poorly in low temps. The lack of "heat" to recover from outside is hard on most conventional heat pumps as the efficiency (and capacity) scale with temperature (refrigerant pressure is key). You can lower the effective range of a conventional HP by adding a "low ambient kit." Most mini splits have the same ability built in, so that is why they can perform so well even below 0F.
Anyways I have not serviced or used any r32 systems, (which both of these are). But even in 410a systems there is a wide difference between performance.
As far as low ambient kits, their rarely used in inverter units... Other than perhaps heaters for the compressor or the drain lines. Fan speed to maintain head pressure is done automatically through programming.
Unfortunately the lower the differential the more energy it eats. At some point it becomes so inefficient that some mini splits use a heating element like a space heater.
Where I am it often maintains mid 40s at night from like March to June 1...so this midea might be interesting. It could probably do duties through mid Nov. Once that comes around it's probably time to take it out and store it.
The midea I think is 13.3 vs the LG which is 15 as far as it's rated efficiency.
