Redmonds are not waterproof. They are barely water resistant. Wet grass is enough to soak them.

I can confirm this. I work outside in Seattle and these are worse then non waterproof because they let water in but don't vent water out.

I don't know what happened to Columbia, I also have a pair and they get water. I think you have to go with full boots for complete waterproof. How could they label it waterproof when it is not. The Kumbos fraction of the cost from Costco has more water resistance than these.

This post is incorrect. Post states waterproof but if you read the link on Columbia site there is no mention of waterproof for the low cut shoe.

I'm finding Columbia, the lighter ones with Techlite soles (not waterproof, leatherish syle ones) very comfortable and stable and lighter than many "higher" brands like Merrell and others at REI . I can't speak to the waterproofness, but that's a very minor consideration for me. All my family now has Columbia hiking boots as the go-to active footwear. We wear these almost as regular footwear, because some hiking/activity is possible anytime, and it's crazy to carry multiple shoes.
