This projector comes with an alr screen. You would need to spend around $500 to buy a comparable screen for the Wemax. Both are really good deals. Hisense calibrates their projectors to their screen and thus achieves better colors and sharpness in my opinion. This projector just recently launched earlier this year at $4500. I have only been able to find reviews from last year's model. But the specs list this with brighter ansi lumens (2700 vs 2100 Wemax). On top of that this one has hdmi 2.1, eARC, Backlit remote. I would expect this to be better in ambient light and slightly better in a dark room.

I own this. I thought it would be great for my living room but that room was too bright. Honestly, the only room in my house that got dark enough for day time watching was my basement. Yes you can see it in a bright or even semi bright room, but people here are not being honest if they say that doesn't seriously sacrifice image quality. That being said, I love this for movies in the basement. However I also agree that these need to get better because the gap is truly narrowing with standard tv size to cost ratio.

Can anyone provide insight on what the difference between the two options are? L5 versus L9?

There is a good a good YT channel that compares a bunch of these. Chris Majestic. I believe both the 5 and 9 series do well for their particular class.

Wow. These projectors are going to have to keep getting cheaper now that 75" TVs are $650 at Walmart and 86" are $1300 at Costco.
I would put 4 of these $750 together to make it 150" screen!

I've seen this exact comment last year when I was looking for projectors.
Pretty sure it's the same guy in every projector post. He's somehow surprised/impressed that his guests are initially captivated by a 120" screen that most people never see in a home vs. a 77" tv that people see every time they walk in Best Buy. Would be weird if people didn't stop and look at a giant screen on someone's wall. Also doesn't seem to understand that has nothing to do with picture quality.

I got the L5 series approx a year ago when on sale and I absolutely love it- once it's setup. It's a huge improvement vs hanging a projector 10ft. away.
Had to warranty it for a stuck pixel in the middle of the screen and they got it back to me within a week with free shipping labels. (Keep your box)
The positioning process to minimize the halo around the screen can be frustrating but worth the effort.

When the Dolby vision firmware comes out this will be a better projector

There are better ones now however. Xiomi c2 and fengmi t1 come to mind. Much better black performance

I thought movie theater screens had holes in them, different type of screen that the sound can pass through.

It actually has everything to do with picture quality. No it isn't up to OLED standards, but the pure screen size difference far outweighs the PQ difference.

It is because laser UST projectors are highly underrated and people on Slickdeals appreciate hands-on experience.

Which one do you own? So you ended up keeping the projector regardless hating it?

I know it's not really comparable because of short throw vs long throw, but the L9G vs the Epson LS11000. Similar prices... how long until we see a sale on the LS11000 (usually, for epson projectors, anyone know how if there's a standard amount of time before they allow sales)?
