Both are 4k

I bought the L5G with the DLT 1.0 gain screen for the exact same price about a month or so ago. Its really great for the price and the sound is surprisingly good. Picture is really good but do wish I went for the 120" vs the 100"...but could not justify $500 more at the time.

It does take a while to get these projectors dialed in to the perfect spot but once you do they are great.

I'd sell you the screen as I don't need it. I'd want $1000 though 😊

As mentioned both are 4K. Neither a great choice if your a gamer or want 3-D though as 3-D is not supported and gaming is over 40ms input lag which is noticeable in twitched based games. Fine for casual gaming though.

Explain to me like I'm an idiot… what's the difference between a 1.0 gain alr screen and the regular cinema alr screen?

Not sure what the regular cinema alr screen is you are referencing but the gain portion is how much light is reflected compared to if you were shining a light onto a pure white board. 1.0 is equivalent to a pure white board, anything over the +1 number means more light will be reflected so thats good in high ambient light rooms any number under 1 is good for light control rooms, but 1.0 is the standard.

The higher the gain goes up the worse the viewing angels become though, so that is the downside of higher gain.

Moving an 85 inch TV is a pain.

We have an old (7 yrs) Vizio 65" 4k (no HDR, standard LCD panel) that is our main TV in our home. We are wanting to upgrade and go big since our new home has a rather large living room... We can't do much for light control. Would a UST projector at 100" be an, actually, viable alternative to a traditional-style TV?

I paired the 123" Elite Screens Aeon 3 with a refurbished Samsung LSP9T and it looks amazing. It's a huge pain to install, but if you have Best Buy Totaltech, they'll install it for you without additional cost (took them 4 guys and ~3 hours). https://www.bestbuy.com/site/elit...Id=6484730 When I purchased it (~9 months ago), Elite Screens had the best reviews for CLR and based on sample material I purchased from Akia and a few other brands on Amazon, Elite Screens definitely provided the best image. It was also the largest screen (but just by 3 inches) that I could find without going a custom build route and spending multiple thousands.

For projectors:
I'd also tried out the Hisense L9G with paired 120" screen before that, but while I loved the color reproduction and responsiveness of the Hisense, I couldn't get past how blurry it was at the corners. I even had Best Buy swap out the projector with another unit since I thought it might be defective, but it was just as bad and ended up returning it. I'd recommend either the Samsung LSP9T or HiSense's PX1-Pro triple laser at it has a focusing mechanism like the Samsung. I've had good luck with refurbished and you can save ~50%+ on the projector.
