This is at Costco and while it is $300 more than the eBay or Walmart deal, this has the 2 TB SSD and 32gb RAM and also comes with 2 years manufactured warranty which with a Costco card should double!!! So overall a little more for more peace of mind with Costco!!

As I stated with the warranty and peace of mind and 32gb/2tb, you could make a case for it. The Walmart model is only 512gb
The 2022 version of these should be out this week or next week. We should see all of these becoming cheaper.
Not very good price now. I got this exact config from lenovo for $1480 with edu discount months back.

At this price, should just go for the legion 7 with ryzen 9 and 3080 which is significantly faster for $1799, only $100 more. Yes, it has half the ram and ssd but you can upgrade the ram and ssd yourself later . And you are getting ryzen 9 and 3080 as well as legion 7 which is a more premium chassic!

I rarely find Costco laptop deals to be all that compelling price wise. It's almost like they're having to price in the extra warranty and the likely elevated number of returns they receive vs the competition. Guess that's the downside of the generous return and warranty policies. I'm not sure the extra hard drive space and RAM justify the $300 price increase over the similar Walmart unit, unless I'm totally out of touch on the price of memory and storage. I feel there's a reason the $1,399 walmart unit has been increasingly easy to find in stock with the successor being released...so this is even harder to justify. Still a nice laptop and probably not a bad deal, I just think you're better off upgrading the memory yourself and maybe waiting a bit if you can.

It's really just the "extended" warranty and supposedly painless return policy (which I feel people abuse quite a bit) that even makes these deals the ones people buy.

I am also kinda very surprised that so many people would rather get this instead of the legion 7 5900h and 3080 with 16GB and 1TB which is significantly faster and better chassic for only $90more...

oh welll..

Here's the link to the legion 7 with 5900hx and 3080 16GB ram and 1TB ssd for $1799 for anyone that wants a better deal imo

I got this computer from Lenovo last month with only differences being a 3060 instead of 3070 and cost was a little over 1400 before tax. So far, I'd recommend. I tried out the flight simulator and it was beautiful on it. No issues I have seen so far and happy with it so far

might want to look up some reviews on the Legion 7. due to bad icue rgb software its got terrible battery life. For whatever reason the Legion 5 does not use icue and has drastically better battery life.

Im mildly kicking myself because I bought a legion 5 pro at microcenter for 1600 in February. The price seems to finally be cratering. I will say regardless of this deal its generally considered to be the best 2021 laptop with its particular feature set. So far its been essentially a full desktop replacement me for me. Runs everything I throw at it. The 2560x1600 resolution is great for programming. Its by no means silent when gaming but the fan noise is not a nuisance.

Read some other reviews saying there were microstuttering issues with the AMD models of the Legion 5 Pro. Does anyone know if this is still a concern or a real issue?
Thanks.

I saw some articles that stated it was a known issue with AMD and Windows 11.

Yes, that is a known issue. The solutiion is to disable icue which mean you lose customization of the backlit keys. But you are getting a better legion 7 chassic and 5900hx and 3080 for only $90 more. There is really no arguing about that Wink

I hear the 2022 version dropped icue and is using an internally developed "Spectrum" app instead

The Icue thing is a non issue. If that's the worst thing going for this laptop then it speaks volumes about how great it is. I uninstalled the software and can still cycle through the presets. Just can't customize the rgb which can't be THAT big of a deal right?

Expensive some folks got the Legion 7 5900HX + 3080 + 16GB RAM +1TB SSD for $1,700 last year. This is a ripoff especially with all of the 2022 models with Alder Lake and Ryzen 6000 CPUs plus 3070Ti and 3080Ti coming out now.

Thanks for all the good info from everyone - this thread has been very informative.
But I'm in the middle of selling my desktop (5800X/2070S/32GB/2.5TB) for $1050 locally. It's almost 3 years old, so I feel that's fair, especially with prices going back down. I just want to downsize to a nice gaming laptop so I'm not always tied to sequestering myself in my office. With a gaming laptop I can chill with my wife in the living room and still play my games.

My question is: Should I take the proceeds from the desktop and get the $1400 Walmart 5800h/3070/512/16? I want 32GB RAM and 2TB of SSD at least, so I'm not sure if I should grab the Costco 5800/3070/2TB/32GB or grab the Walmart and upgrade it. Or go with the 5900/3080 laptop at Walmart. I don't really want to spend $1800, but after SSD upgrades and such, the $1400 L5P would be about that. What about the Lenovo Legion 5 3060 for $1050? Would that be a good option? The Pro is in my sights because of the much better screen, cooling, and build quality over the regular L5 or Legion 7 Slim.

Thanks in advance all!
