Finished moving all my socks to DT last year. No regrets, except that I bought more pair than I need.

The heavy knee-high are absolutely money in winter out on construction sites. Crew is (imho) just a touch short for business/office socks unless you don't mind risking showing a little shin when seated, and accounting for lazy machine wash shrinkage and a small amount of late-day sock slouch.

Sizing: XL are just barely large enough for my size 13 feet.

Side note for you young travelers out there: I just did my first 18 hour travel day with a pair of compression socks (different brand, but 15-20mmHg merino/elastane just like the DT) and wish I'd done it sooner. Compression socks get an old-person-with-edema rep, but hfs - as someone with no issues requiring compression - my feet have never felt this good after travel, much less two 3 hours drives sandwiching a 5 hour flight and the reverse trip with a pair of 3 hour flights instead of the 5 hour nonstop. I wish I'd known about them in my 30s.
That's kind of their main selling point
I LOVE DT socks. They last forever. I have a pair that my great great great great grandfather wore during the Civil War. Grey with blue stripes, whatever that indicates.

I actually just did my first warranty return on these. Couple holes in my socks that my dog may or may not have been involved in. Super simple process and think I paid $3 shipping to mail 2 pairs back. Love these socks may get a few more

Any general suggestions for wide size 12 socks - and someone that has foot pains due to arthritis or plantar or something?

edit: I have seen doctors, but I guess I should have instead asked for slightly more padded lightweight socks

Darn Tough makes socks without wool. Unfortunately, it appears GoBros doesn't offer them.

I am about to go through the same process. How did you ship them? Did you just purchase a padded envelope and ship them via the cheapest option?

That makes them a no go for me as I'm allergic.

Yep exactly. I re-use a padded envelope and ship via First Class.
I wash them first so the "Dirty socks with holes inspector" has to suffer less.
Never had an issue that wasn't self-inflicted (like accidentally ordering the wrong size).
