Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.
Cancel after one year. So effectively a $650 bonus.
Show me a no annual fee card with a ~$650 bonus... I'll wait.

If you spend those points on travel reimbursment then those points equal to $750 exactly, or of you transfer those pointa to an airline partner then it may be even more depending on how you do it.
Yep, transferring to the airline you plan on using is the way to do it IME. Business class ticket for our upcoming trip = 45k points, which I think is pretty great compared to buying them outright.
I had a capital one card that was closed a few months ago due to inactivity (NOT a venture card…some cashback Mastercard I think, don't recall the name)…will I be eligible for the bonus points?
The wording is a little vague, does it mean previous venture holders are ineligible or anyone with any sort of capital one card?
Just an update, I was eligible for the 75k bonus. So I guess it's previous venture holders specifically that may be ineligible.
1000%! Chase is the preferred way to go due to flexibility plus that bonus is much higher and worth more.
Go for the Chase one!
I have the Chase Sapphire and two Chase INK cards all of which I've gotten bonuses on. I think I still have over $2k worth of points. Can I transfer them to airline miles on the Sapphire card? Edit: it's Sapphire Preferred, not Reserve.
I'm new to airline points and have always just gotten $ bonuses but I'm needing to buy $3k worth of insurance soon and thought I'd cash in on a card to travel with. Thanks!

I use Capital One points for a very specific transfer-Turkish Airlines. Transfer Capital One points to Turkish Miles & Smiles to book United Airline flights for 7,500 miles one-way domestically. This is available for Saver award availability on United. Additionally, Turkish Airlines business class to Istanbul is as low as 45k each way when booked in advance.
Has anyone ever had success with "upgrading" a different Cap1 Card to a Venture and still getting the bonus points? I'd rather not close the card (I honestly think I've had this one for 17 years LOL) and apply for the venture, and they've offered me an upgrade without a pull.

i believe, bonus is for new cards and not for upgrades.

Only with an upgrade offer which specifically includes a bonus for upgrading. I was offered one to upgrade my 20 year old Quicksilver to a Venture X last fall, but haven't heard of a similar offer for upgrading to the plain Venture.
There are a couple people in this thread who said they got it twice, but their situations are not exactly the same. They did Venture and Venture X and Venture One etc. I'm looking to see if anyone just did Venture and got the bonus twice.
Define "Perfect" 850? I have a 835 credit score, applied and was instantly approved for $15,000. I don't think that I have have a capital one credit card in the past, so maybe that was the deciding factor.
How long was it until you received your card or account number to use?
with 820 credit score my application got declined.. have bunch of other premium cards. not sure why it got declined
Edit: received letter from them..
The reason(s) for our decision are:
· Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, there are too many active credit cards based on your loan history
I really don't know what loan history they are referring to.. I don't have any loans.. but I have quite a few number of cards

Yeah it assigns you an actual card # within minutes.
I applied and was approved instantly. When I went to the Cap One website to create an account, I couldn't log in. I spent far too much time on the phone with someone whose accent I had a hard time understanding and we finally gave up trying to get it to work. He said I'll need to check it in 72hrs and it should work. We'll see. I've got a little time to make a state tax payment and an insurance payment that will give me the $4k spend right off the bat.

Also, assuming I can't get another Chase bonus at this time, would this Cap One card be better for airline miles or the Citi card deal (that I may have missed)?
