Nope. It doesn't work like that. Not a single game uses the full bandwidth of SSDs, yet, so that 7100 is completely useless. It would literally load games 1 or 2 seconds faster than the stock SSD. Digital Foundry tested a drive with a speed of 3200 and even that was nearly identical to the stock one. On occasion, it took one second longer to load. That was the only difference. No mid-level loading or any hiccups.

I have one with a speed of 3600 (the PS5 reads it at 3400) and there is no difference at all. The only reason to get something as fast as what you mentioned would be for future-proofing, which is fine, but until games start actually taking advantage of that speed, it's just sitting there and it's a waste of money.

This is actually a good deal, as far as 2TB goes. This is a much better purchase for PS5 than what you're talking about.

By the time we see the difference between the nvme drives, PS8 will be out.

You are free to waste your money for no actual gain other than higher numbers on paper. Each to their own...

Them speeds ain't it for Gen 4... Hard pass
Actually Gen 3 x4 drives max out at about 3,500 MBps so 5,000 MBps is indeed Gen 4 speeds...

Also, do you really care if you can read off the entire content of the 2TB drive in 4 mins vs 6 mins? The 4K random read/write specs of the Sabrent drive is more than competitive with a Samsung 980 Pro.

The specs of this SSD don't compare to the Rocket 4 Plus. Case closed

Ahhh the typical console gamers.
PC Master Race laughs at console gamers. Price and heat displacement should be the main concern.

I bought one of these from amazon last year and the drive died on me in less than 3 months. Tried going through their support for an RMA and got so frustrated with how unhelpful they were that I ultimately just bought a samsung drive.

Wrong, If your paying $500 for a game system. You would want to make sure your extra storage takes advantage of every bit of spend you can to make games load as fast as possible. This SSD max read speed is 5000. Whereas Sony PS5 can read 5500 speeds.
🤣 You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Not to mention that you clearly don't own a PS5. I do, and I have a much slower drive in mine, like is said, and there is ZERO difference in performance between my slower drive and the faster stock SSD.

You get absolutely no extra speed from faster SSDs in a PS5, because the games aren't using it. It does not matter what the PS5 is capable of. Do you know anything at all about how games work?

It's similar to why most PS4 games still run at 30fps on the PS5, when the PS5 is obviously powerful enough to run all of them at 60fps. The games haven't been patched to run at 60fps. More hardware speed/power does not just automatically mean better performance for the games. It's ok not to understand how SSDs work, but don't act like you do.

If the spec matched, they wouldn't have given it another name Wink

This is a fantastic deal for a 2TB gen 4 SSD. On Amazon right now this is $240. [amazon.com]

Oops. What you quoted is 100% correct, which is why instead of disputing it, you rebutted it with an opinion about something abstract. There is no advantage now - or for the foreseeable future - of having a bleeding edge SSD. I'd also love to claim my WD Black is somehow faster than whatever SSD Shake-N-Bake is using, but our experiences are probably identical. Fantasy is fun, but there is no escape from reality.

Also, *you're.
Thank you. That person is being ridiculous. I'm so tired of people who don't understand that it doesn't matter what the hardware is capable of, if the software isn't taking advantage of it.

Who cares? Are you obligated to let everyone know in every nvme thread about it? Take a break

This is comically incorrect. There's already a ton of comparisons with drives and the difference is somewhere between jack and s*** in real world load times.

Why do you care what I do? If someone says something that's wrong, I'm going to correct them. I will do that until the day I die. Why would I take a break when I don't feel the need to? You're a stranger on the internet. I don't care one bit what you think of me or if me posting facts on all of these threads annoys you. People who let things slide are the problem. That's how misinformation spreads. I'm saving some people money, whom otherwise might listen to dummies like that other person, and buy overly expensive products that give them no benefit over the cheaper ones.

You fired a shot at me, and I defended myself. That's what you do when debating things. It's f***ing comical when people call someone else frustrated when they're the frustrated one. You got frustrated with me and told me to take a break. Lol. You can always block me if you're tired of seeing my comments.
