I've got this mower. Works great for my small lawn, barely puts a dent in the 4ah battery. One thing that I wish it had (that I believe their 60v and 80v mowers have) is a boost button. I would like to be able to increase the motor speed on my own rather than waiting for it to sense that it needs more torque going through higher/tougher grass and amps up the spin.
Note to anyone that's not in the GW 40v ecosystem already: I don't think they are making any new 40v tools, so don't expect to add many others that use the same battery unless you find old stock on clearance.
Not a self propelled.
Not a riding mower.

Does anyone know if this is compatible with 40V Gmax 4AH batteries? They look same on the picture but gmax wording is throwing me off

You can use that, most people do but mowers run better with pure gas. You can get that from home depot or check pure-gas.org for a station near you. It was a tad over $4 a gal at my local station but mower purrs now.

I plan on switching to electric when my housemate moves outbut my they had this already, no point in having two mowers take up room when I only need one at the moment.
I think that is debatable. I have a 14 year old gas mower (Toro 21" briggs straton motor) and it has always started on first pull. I have never changed the oil (Next door neighbor did add some about 3 to 5 years ago). I am wanting it to die so I can get a newer motor but the thing just works. Cuts through anything I throw at it when my lawn has got very high before in Florida.

Just bought the 48V version of this same mower a few months ago for $260 on Amazon and that one has the boost button. So much nicer than a gas mower. Hardly any maintenance, quieter and easily cuts front and back yards on a single charge. I'm happy to slowly convert all my household stuff to electric. I just wish all my neighbors would get rid of their noisy gas tools...

Good post OP. Applause

I've read through a number of battery powered lawn mower posts lately and . . . haven't seen any mention of energy bill credits or rebates. My local ("balmy" Northern Vermont = ) electrical provider offers a one time $50 credit on my monthly bill. Not earth shattering, yes, but might buy a few cups of coffee. Enjoy!

I have a 40v mower that I paid $140 for. It cuts ok, but feels underpowered. I would go for a 60 or 80v if I bought another.

Good for a small yard. Batteries die too soon, I only have enough juice for the front yard, and about half the backyard. Doesn't cut as good as my gas mower, not bad for the price. I would recommend it, if you have a small yard.

Define small?

Where do you get off market replacement batteries, looking for 24V 4AH.
I got some from Amazon, when ordering the official battery, were clearly part of the amazon knockoff binning scam. Only held charge for half of the original time. I found some official replacements at menards. I figured they had less chance of being real looking knockoffs, and they have performed well so far.

Not a self propelled.
That can take 1/3 of the power. Unless you have a long yard, slightly hilly you don't need self propelled. These mowers are lighter than gas.
We haven't missed SP, in fact, we find it easier to manipulate around plants, trees, etc.

80 volt mower, 4,5 AH batteries.
Always let batteries cool down before recharging, store them in a cheap cooler, cool place,, garage heat, heat in general very bad on them.

FYI, https://www.toolboxbuzz.com/lawn-...awn-mower/

For run time..
"The Kobalt 80v took first place, it ran 85.5 minutes and mowed 38,600 sq. ft. Second place went to the MAKITA, it ran 83 minutes, and mowed 35,000 Sq. Ft. Third place went to the Greenworks 60V 21″ mower which ran for 65 minutes and mowed 27,700 Sq Ft."
