No, it is really not a good deal at all. HP 15 Laptop with far powerful Ryzen 5 5500U 6C/12T CPU and over 20% to 40% superior Vega 7 Graphics (Due to efficient design and far higher clockspeed) regularly available at this exact price and right now it is $419.

It is perfectly serviceable. For graphic design, screen quality could be really important and chances are good that this laptop does not have a great screen.

I would go for refurbs for other brands before touching a new gateway laptop due to build quality / quality control. There are so many refurbs of this offered by walmart it is suspicious. I had two bad experiences in a row for this generation of gateway laptop where there were a few dead pixels on the screen, and where the "a" key on the keyboard went dead. May have been acceptable if it was a z or x, but an "a" is crossing a line. Unknown if they fixed QC issues for future generations, but I doubt it.
