I bought a refurb from the Acer store last year. Has been rock solid and looked brand new. There was a 20% off refurb coupon at the time, plus some cashback (not SD).

The free 2-year Allstate warranty is a nice touch.

It was missing the hard drive expansion bracket, but that was $12.

Solid deal for a basic laptop.

8GB soldered. Add up to a 16GB stick to get to 24GB.

I use touch screen instead of the TouchPad as I struggle with carpal tunnel syndrome. Touching is less taxing on my wrist compared to clicking on the touch pad.

I have bought many refurb acer laptops.

In each case, they looked and worked like new.

Once I got one with a charger that had a broken tip on it. Opened a ticket with them on a Sunday, and 2 days later received a replacement charger. Exceptional service, but I probably just got really lucky.

What do you guys think about this versus the Gateway refurb deal? Im leaning toward this one because they are both refurbs and this one gives you the 2-year warranty. I know the Gateway deal has 16GB memory but this one is upgradable. Gateway has a bigger hard drive size, but this one is upgradable. I have some extra extrernal drives lying around so space not an issue. Is this much better quality? Anyone know much about these displays? Not really sure what to do here

did you consider the gateway refurb deal? anything you didnt like about it? ram and memory are doubled for a few bucks....but obviously no 2 year warranty

in my view, while a 12 gen would be better, this laptop video specs with XE are well above the basic 11th gen.

so cost becomes a factor.

Acer has always been really good to me. Never had one die on me, always been impressed with the value compared to other brands. One time that I broke my charger outside warranty, they exchanged my broken charger for a working refurbished one. No complaints with their products or services over 25-ish years of buying their stuff.

Unless you have spare SSDs and RAM laying around, the Gateway is a better deal.

Gateway is sata only hard drive. Both probably have disappointing screen quality.

Hmm, no USB 3.2 Gen2 ports according to this review:

Odd considering how they include a TB3 port on their 13.5" model, so you'd at least expect a single 10 Gbps port.
