Great deal, stomps other laptops in this price range
If you have the money order several, just keep the best looking one, return the bad looking ones
I have two of these now.

I'd say as close to new as they get because I don't see any imperfections.

One of the laptops came with a completely dead battery and had some difficulties getting updated, but eventually did and the touchpad became much better. As with my other 15.6" ultra-slim in the past, the fingerprint sensor works very well (quickly).

The screen is fairly bright and has good contrast - albeit at 60% color gamut. It's been my contention that good contrast and IPS will alleviate most issue with a narrow color gamut in budget devices.Bios is completely unlocked and even when I jacked TDP to 30W/60W battery life seems decent. I'd say 8-9 hours. The aluminum lid gives the rest of the case much needed stiffness. I can actually use it at the lowest brightness in my typical work environment - although I typically run it at 50% on the brightness slider.

It can injest 4k video without losing frames.

My biggest issues - the integrated 1x1 Wireless AC card and non backlit keyboard. Although I wil say the keyboard is spacious and works pretty well for me. At least the keys are black with white lettering. Even the SATA M.2 is no big deal. It's big enough and quick enough - besides there's no reason to open up the back of the laptop.

ONE of my two samples, one black one blue, the charger doesn't work.

I call this a bargain because it works, nothing to dick around inside the case/upgrade.

BTW, I noticed that it doesn't have Intel RST drivers - is it because it is SATA?

Is a refurb with 90day warranty and its a hit or miss if you get a good one or not. If you do this is a great deal with PD and DP over USB C and you may get one with Wi-Fi 6 . Make sure you run it through its paces. Check the other threads on SD for more info as this has been posted several times.

This seems like a good deal.

The only downside seems to be no backlit keyboard. Like… that's it. Checks a lot of boxes. 512gb storage, 16gb ram, 11th gen i5…

For around $300 I think you'd be hard pressed to find anything better even if it is a refurb.

Last week I ordered 5 (2 blacks, 1 silver, 1 rose gold and 1 blue)

* Black: Came in a perfect new condition: Kept it
* Black: Came in a perfect new condition: Kept it
* Blue: Came in a perfect new condition: Kept it
* Rose Gold: came with minor scratches, notable signs of wear.. returned it (It even was labeled as a grade B refurbish)
* Silver: came with minor scratches, notable signs of wear.. returned it (Tho it was labeled grade A refurbish)

It is a bummer because the silver was the one that I liked the most.

No issues on returns, just took them to local walmart and they issued me a refund inmmediatly

Good luck to anyone buying this laptops, I am very happy with the ones I purchased, very snappy, responsive and good looking

What paperwork did you need for the in-person return? Or, did they just look up your order online?

FWIW I have one as a refurb from the holidays at this price. The short of it is, i love it.

The metal top makes it feel more premium than it actually is. For the money, getting one of these refurbed and running it through its paces to make sure it's not messed up is the way to go. I'm really happy with the purchase, with two main gripes: 1) the power connector into the laptop feels very cheap, and vulnerable to damage if careless. 2) the laptop screen is not as bright as I would like, but it is reasonable for the price. The keyboard is functional but a bit meh and as noted previously, does not have a backlight for those who care. I've never used the webcam, but I'm guessing it's not incredible...but this is a relatively new i5 for $329. I'd love if it had another USB port (it has 2), but it does have a USB-C (and I've heard conflicting things but it might be possible to charge it from the port).

At this price, an 11th gen i5 and 16gb is smokin at the refurb price if you get a good one. Suitable for playing 265 encoded video w/ no hiccups, and surfing with plenty of tabs open (GUILTY). The SD threads back around the holidays about the refurb reported some folks who had bad experiences with different components breaking down. Mine came looking like new. Worst comes to worst you return it back to Wallyworld. AFAIK they don't have restocking charges, so you can run it through its paces until the return timeline ends.

One more thing: YT had a review of this laptop to be able to do a BIOS tweak that improved the performance of the laptop:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YuJso34l30

see about 2:10 in the "BIOS settings" section of the video. I tried doing this myself, but couldn't discern any difference in performance so maybe i did it wrong...

At this price, I'd take this over a $150 Chromebook any day, but yeah, you might be rolling the dice a little bit. I've had no problems though.

You can charge it from the USB-C port. I had to do it with the first one I got because the charger they gave me didn't work.

And for those wondering, I feel there is a noticeable difference between 11th and 10th gen intels that makes me reject buying any 10th gen now.

Very fast order processing. It's like they want to move that shit out ASAP before you change your mind. Wink

My question is... is there really only one antenna wire in there?
