It does work. Read the Plex official documentation. It is just not official.

The 6-core deal from the same OP is probably the way to go. I think most users won't notice the multi-core difference, can pocket the $100, and still have an upgrade path if they encounter a 4750GE for dirt cheap in the far future (maybe Cezanne-based 5750GE as well, if it's compatible).

Check what your use case is. I'm a big fan of these tiny Lenovo computers. I own a m75q with a 4750GE running headless dockers and various containers. This where the extra cores and threads come in handy. The biggest drawback is the Realtek nic, so running ESXi or proxmox is not ideal.

This would be overkill as a dedicated plex server (for most people). Def enough horsepower to run multiple services.

I don't think this Type-C port is capable of display out.

According to that:

Supports up to 3 independent displays via onboard ports (DisplayPort + HDMI) and optional ports (VGA / 2nd DP / 2nd HDMI / USB-C / 2x DP)

Thanks for the spec info sheet. So the optional ports are prebuilt with any one of these connectors? The machine can't seem to be configured

That's what it looks like to me. The front USB-C doesn't support display out.

That seems like what it means. You can buy the ports online doing a search. I'm not sure if it connects to the MB direct or has a cable/ connector though.

Would this make a good plex server? Not considering storage.

16GB (8GBx2) DDR4 3200 MHz Ram

Is it confirmed that this is 8GBx2, and not 16GBx1?
Lots of reviews talk about these systems shipping with 1 stick of RAM.

That's why I mentioned it does not support more than 2 display out for this specific model. That optional ports need to be configured if you buy from Lenovo using a configurable model. Otherwise, those two optional ports won't be available. But I think it's possible to buy those add-on cards by looking at the part number in Lenovo Parts looker.

I have this in the ryzen 3 pro version. Really easy to take apart to upgrade HD, memory, etc. and works extremely well outputting to multiple displays, etc. Small size gives you lots of options on placement.

I miss windows, this or keep my base Mac mini? I've been running 2010 HP desktop with second generation intel (yep that's right) and windows xp lol

I've been wanting a small form factor so I went with the Mini, but this looks pretty solid :-/

I see 5% cash back at the R
