I own a subway, and there's no way we can accept this on a continuous basis. We actually lose money whenever we honor such coupons (forget about not taking a profit, we often have to put our own money). Just like everything else, our food cost went up a lot, we're paying more in rent if lease is due, we can't hire and retain anyone unless we're paying at least $3 above the minimum ($15/hr minimum), etc.

This is not just me. Any subway owner I have spoken to is fed up with Subway HQ and their poor marketing. It's okay to have $1-3 coupons but not BOGO or $8 for a meal that would cost $14 minimum.

At the end of the day, we invest $300k to make money. This isn't helping us and it certainly doesn't help customers hoping to use such coupons. Also, whenever there's such coupons, we get a huge influx of new customers, but as soon as we stop accepting them, almost all of them go away (this statement is based on hard data from my store).

I used to love subway, but I won't even try it with all the other better options that actually accept coupons. Our local place doesn't warn you they don't take the coupon. You just don't get your order, I showed up one day, and they were like, " Yeah, we don't accept coupons. We canceled your order about 5 minutes ago... I asked if they took paper coupons from the mailers they said it depends on what it is. None of them even offer the free cookie on your b-day. We have about 5 subways in a 5-mile radius don't know how they're still open.

Honestly I'm kinda tired of seeing this code, because the very few local places that accepted this - like 2 out of probably over a dozen local locations - do not any longer seem to accept it. Unless they improved things, you have to go through site for each location, add footlongs to the cart, then try the code - to know if the code works at all. If it doesn't work, then you have to do the whole process again for each location. It's really too much work, lol.... I made some baked sandwiches in the oven the other day, and I probably still got more value out of it than buying something here. It's just hard to convince yourself to cook after a day of BS at work

Who would pay 14.00 for a subway meal? At that price it would be better to go to a higher end place.

You should watch todays episode of "Last Week Tonight", their main segment is on subway franchising and how terrible they treat the franchisees.

What mom & pop has $300k to blow on a Subway franchise? Hard to feel bad that for people that can afford that kind of money to burn. Also if a Subway can't afford to pay it's workers enough to at least live in the same town they operate it won't survive long.
Having $300k to INVEST is far different than having $300k to burn. Don't be simple.

I go to Subway every other Friday because they have a buy 2 get 1 free deal every Friday. I personally used to go more but that refresh they did a couple months ago made some things taste worse in my opinion along with increasing the price on everything. The ham sub used to be my second favorite sub but the change made them taste worse. I acidently didn't select toasted on a online order and I found out I like ham subs more cold now.

Worse thing Subway has going for it to me is the bread, I have tasted toasted subs from other places before with bread that just has a way better taste, texture, and freshness to them.

Jersey Mike's for one. A regular sub plus chips and a drink is around that price. While the regular isn't 12" long, it's a better quality product.

Jersey Mike's would be my choice also, ,only reason I get subway is if there's a deal. I usually get the meatball at subway but I feel like they make the meatballs smaller, they sit way down in the bread, seem like half meat to half bread ratio, not very filling.

This.
The segment should be available to watch online Monday morning. It will answer a lot of questions here, and make you laugh.

And that's why I hope more big chain places die off..they're worried about investors, and the executives, and fat cats to get their huge salaries, so they can stick shitty overly processed with additive low tier products to the consumer. F 'em.

Hopefully locally owned businesses grow, and they can get lower cost if goods for buying more and pass it down to us.
