About this deal:
The 65" LG 65NANO99UPA NanoCell 99 Series LED 8K UHD Smart webOS TV is $2,000 less (66.66% savings) than the list price.
About this product:
7.5 rating at Rtings for Mixed Usage:
"The LG NanoCell 99 Series is good for most uses. It performs best in well-lit rooms while watching shows or sports because it has good peak brightness and great reflection handling."
Rtings "The LG NANO99 8k 2021 is a high-end 8k TV. It's the only 8k TV available in LG's 2021 NanoCell lineup in the United States, replacing the LG NANO99 8k 2020. It features an IPS panel with wide viewing angles, but that comes at the cost of a low contrast ratio, so blacks look grey in a dark room, and its full-array local dimming feature is mediocre. Also, despite using LG's NanoCell technology, it can't display a wide color gamut like on other high-end TVs, and combined with its low HDR peak brightness, highlights and colors aren't as vivid as they should be in HDR. It supports full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 on all its HDMI inputs for high-frame-rate gaming, but it doesn't support any variable refresh rate (VRR) technology to reduce screen tearing. It also comes with the LG webOS smart platform, which is user-friendly and has a ton of apps you can download through the app store. "
Probably trying to dump them because they are meh and aren't selling anywhere... you don't see any buzz going around about this model either. Except for the price reduction that may start a buzz.
Not sure what this implies really. These reviews placed it against $3,000 tvs, not $1000 tvs. You're talking about a few things which would be expected in a $3000 tv. But not all of these are expected in a $1000 tv. Spec wise, I think this is "good price 4K version, with an 8k bonus", making this slick.
Example, the "blacks are grey" comment is only really applicable when comparing this to oled. Most reviews of the other size model suggest contrast on this tv is still a step up from most non oled models.
60% INCREASE…that's a lot.

I was thinking the same thing. Only thing I can take from ithis you can find a suitable 4k tv for half the price.
That's true. But the even the nanocell 90 4K is currently listed as a deal with more hotness at the exact same price. This one seems like a pricing error and is quiet. Bizarre. I guess people don't care about 8k (maybe they shouldn't) - but this seems like a no brainer for anyone looking for a $1000 65 inch tv.

The only issue here is contrast ratio but for $1,083 after taxes where I live it's a killer deal for an 8k tv.

I thought it was a really good deal, but 🤷 ♂️ 😂

Does any streaming service stream at 8k? I'd be worried about streaming a 5 minute YouTube video and going over my 1tb data cap 😂
