I am still very mad at me. I almost beat myself up over this..like I was saying very terrible things I was so mad like my hair looks stupid.. it got ugly quick. I was planning some scrap wood I was using for a CNC project, trying to learn how to use it (CNC). I didn't see the nail embedded in the wood. As it was planning it, the tip on the nail was scoring the plate.
The main plate you cant just get a new one, its the entire body of the base unlike most cheaper planners so I'm f'ed. The only advise I got is to file it down.
Now if I put scrap wood in it, it goes through a detailed inspection.. I try to not put any wood with nails in my scrap pile either..
For how little I use this thing (very little), it's a very expensive tool to mess up. Outside of my very stupid mistake, it's an amazing machine. Sometimes Dewalt doesnt impress me but certain things they just do insanely well, this is one of them.
400s? Like 2 years ago? Do you think we'll see those prices again nowadays?
I bought it for 500+tax few years ago and I never used it. I just sold it as new on offerup for 550.

Can confirm. The first one I received had a giant gaping hole on the bottom of the box. I refused delivery and the second one was better.
From 3 states away in 33 hours, or 8 days early, mine arrived this morning (Saturday) via FedEx.
Totally impressed, packaging is in pristine condition.... still having the plastic wrapping over the cardboard box. It says 102lbs, but the FedEx driver hand carried it into the garage from the road. I told him that I had a cart, but he said he had one in his truck for the heavy items.... lol
We have a large planer and joiner at shop, but needed a portable one. Having used this DeWalt before and yes, seen them cheaper, the price seemed reasonable today with the ongoing created inflation. If there is a conflict with China that seems to be brewing, these will double in price overnight. Well, most everything will.
