My iphone 11 activated on 4/22/2022 is still not unlocked as of today 10/29/22022. Unlock not guaranteed unless you have the 6 months of service. YMMV
___________
and before anyone ask....
to have phone unlock in 180 days (6 months)
u need to have activated the phone 180 days ago.
u do not. repeat do NOT have to pay for service for 180 days.
the above has been true for most every metro deal in the past.
it is extremely likely true for this deal as well

also note...many times M reps will make up rules...
if it sounds odd...its probably made up

Since this deal keeps you with Metro for 6 months, you'll be just in time for a Black Friday deal from Mint, or Red Pocket.
Tink Ahead

Turns out it's 6 months for the phone to be unlocked. I'll pass.
(one of my my first was the iphone 6 deal,..
..IIRC, that deal was like this:
4 x ip6 for $160 out the door (15 activation fee/phone +100 1st month service..no tax)...then next day...trade to apple for $200 apple gift card...for each...i think i got 20 phones then...and many people got much more.....shortly after that debacle...M ,,started looking at id's and having 3 months of service for future gift card , etc)
typically, most people will pay for just 1 month service.
put phone in drawer.
known as drawer method...which i think i may have been the first to coin [lol]
it will auto unlock in ~6 months +/- a few days.
to combat this, M started deals which u get a cash back card, after three months of service.
generally, i will avoid those type of deals
I don't have any corporate stores close by. Could you, folks, explain what the issues with the authorized dealer stores are and how I can possibly mitigate them?
AD are most sneaky
CS are less.
also, in CA, (& maybe other states as well) tax can be avoided [on free phones] if going to CS.....an AD will likly charge u tax, even on a free phone...
good rule of thumb.
try CS first.
know exactly what the final cost is.
and what charges they are adding.
sometimes they sneak in insurance for ~$10
before u pay, ask for details on all cost.
sure some have bad experience in CS and good experience with AD,
but generally, go to SC and avid AD, if u can
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date.

right above yours
i think u are not obligated to be with metro for more than the 1 month you pay for at sign up.
pre paid service works like that.
they did take all my iphone 6 when i did a similar metro deal years ago.
dont think much has changed.
apologies, if i am proven to be mistaken
On top of all this, from start to finish for a family plan of 4 phones, it literally took almost 3 hours to process and "setup" the phones in store. I tried to tell him I'll just set it up when I get home but they wouldn't budge. I've been to two other corporate stores before and this was the worst experience. The other corporate store did allow me to setup the phones at home so it only took about an hour to get everything set up.
My experience is each corporate stores vary and the managers who run the stores will either be honest or force their people to tack on additional fees. Either that or the employees receive some incentive for tacking on all the extra fees...
With all the time wasted at the physical store including commute time, you'd be far ahead even paying extra from another carrier that let's you get the phone shipped such as cricket or visible. I'll never do another metro deal regardless of how cheap it is. At a certain point, all the time you wasted there you could've just worked a normal job and ended up ahead.

I guess there are tons of such phones to dump.
Hope they have bigger phones like Pro/Max versions, as well as other color options.

Now you still end up paying 120 for 3 months but you don't get the $50 prepaid card.
I am very upset. I was about to take advantage of the previous deal.
I was interested in this phone but I kind of lost interest in it because it definitely has its cons and it was released in September 2019. There is still a lot of life in my Samsung. Maybe I will wait for the next Metro Apple phone deal which would be like an Apple iPhone 12 around the same price.
