Metro deals are nearly useless. Corporate near me also charging for activation fees and redirects to buy from local store as they do not reveal stock and always OOS, and all nearby dealer would charge full tax, activation, simcard, insurance... forget about it.
lol.

this is clearly incorrect.
as evidence by the countless of popular metro threads.
sure there will be minor inconveniences.
but thats not unheard of to get a "SD"

i see ~10 years.

Does Boost on T-mobile network count as an eligible port in? Boost is technically owned by Dish Network but they send out sims that work on AT&T and T-mobile.

Has anybody been able to activate with the $40 plan at an authorized dealer store?

I got an iphone,
6 months back and Tried drawer trick.
I checked it as its 182nd day today and the phone did not unlock.
Has the unlock policy changed.
But android phones unlocked before 180 days, around 175th day.
I paid for a month and ported out number to t-mobile and used t-mobile sim in android phone for last 5months
Still unlocked

My iphone 11 was activated on April 22 and as of today Day 187 is still not unlocked, The sim was in there for the full 180 days connected to WIFI. I've been trying everyday with a non-metro sim for the past week to unlock. Does not work.

I just bought it for trade-in deals so I don't really care if it doesn't unlock. Maybe Metro has changed the unlock policy or maybe it needs a few more days.

No, I haven't tried it yet but a factory reset isn't necessary for an unlock. I have requested iphone unlocks from other carriers and it's done automatically. No reset, no non-carrier sim necessary. It will just shows un in the settings .

Putting a non-carrier sim will force it to activate with the apple servers and check it's unlock status. Metro most likely have fixed the auto unlock after 180 days. Just a heads up for those that jumping in on the deal for an unlocked iPhone.

understood.

my understanding is that a factory reset will force the phone to , as u say , talk to apple servers.

while it is possible M has fixed the auto unlock, i is highly unlikely.
since it has been this way for many many many years.

in past there have been reports of some phones not unlocking.
But the majority, by far have unlocked.
u may have got one of the few exceptions.

and while i do not pretend to know how this works
(not sure if anyone does for 100% certainty).

its a option to try.

best of luck.

This post needs adjustment because in corporate stores the $40 per month does not qualify for the port in offer. I have confirmed with rep while in-store looking at their checkout system. You may even need the $70 not just the $60 plan.

if u checkout online with a new number
(i know may not be the same thing).
u can select the $40 plan.

Not true unless they changed things since last month. I got a iPhone 11 at a corp store and I got the $40. plan.
