Generic lactase at the same dosage is still cheaper, even at its regular price.

These are also individual packets.

Lactaid works better. Specifically the ones in this post.

I heard someone local was trying to use this with regular milk for baby formula replacement. Tough times.

Most baby formula still has lactose unless you specifically get it without it. Baby formula is much more than cow's milk and it's a very different ratio of ingredients and vitamins. If they really can't find it anywhere and there's no other option than letting their baby go hungry, there are diy recipes for formula that would at least be better than just cow's milk. It's pretty involved with a lot of ingredients and steps to closely replicate formula, plus there's risk of contamination. I've never done it myself and you shouldn't do it if it can be avoided at all (check with your pediatrician and friends/family out of town for formula), but I'm not going to fault parents for doing what needs to be done to feed their kids.

I'm seeing $20.99 for 120 caplets at costco.com. Must be much cheaper in store.

I'm seeing $17.99 for 180.

Edit: Nvm, you're referring to Lactaid brand. Kirkland brand is 10c each: https://www.costco.com/kirkland-s...96414.html

Something else to keep in mind about these products - make sure you look at the serving size and lactase enzyme per serving size. Some products require you to take multiple caplets/pills to get the same amount of lactase enzyme per serving size. The 120 count of Lactaid original strength pills is a good example - it requires 3 capsules (which is a single serving size of this product) to get the 9000 FCC. The Kirkland brand is 9000 FCC per single capsule.

Yup. I'm pretty sure that's what MadJukes was referring to in store, not the Lactaid brand.

Source: I've used both, I carry the other kind, and anecdotes aren't data. My experience has been the other works faster.

Also fwiw the other brand quietly switched from 3k units to 9k a short while ago without substantially changing the packaging. You might very well have used the lower dosage before they tripled it.
